guys... its a MOCK UP
sooo... its 3 inches
means i can test where i can put it before i buy the final fittings... and holes are in it so you cant buy this $10 set and USE it as a CAI

its not going to be "that cheap" but it'll be custom

funny link

the database still has my name as Red92MaxSE (in MrGone's quotes)

I have the same CAI, but it has been sitting in my garage for like 2 years. I just used the first piece for my pop charger.

Damn! What a great idea for a CAI!

Not really sure why you are trying to mock up anything. All the parts needed have been spelled out already. Shirley you must have seen those posts before.

Jeff didnt have ABS I dont think so his overflow is on the pass. side where the ABS pump is on ABS cars.

Not Exactly a cold air intake, but it definitely gives you some bang for your $3.97+ Tax. I'm sure everyone's already thought about this, but I decided to do a little write up on it anyway.

I did have an actual question though, Which one is better? A High-Flow intake like 94maxshima put together or a CAI? The high-flow one looks easier to do and has a shorter path for notably thinner air, but a CAI pulls in denser air over a longer path. I want to do one or the other... Opinions?

well pretty much all either one does is give you a cool sound. You may get a little power out of the CAI but in my experience I actually lost a little with the under the hood filter (HAI as many will call it) because of the hot air it draws in.

Many on here bought the cheap ebay CAI for an accord or something (search and ye shall find) for the VG. Seems to be cheap and fit OK.

Anyone got a picture of this VG CAI that MrGone is talking about? I took a look at my engine bay last night and I didn't see a good way for the piping to be routed. I'd hate to do a short ram intake as I had one on my '91 Q45 and while it sounded awesome, it was sucking in a tremendous amount of hot air. No freakin way I'm spending $120 for Stillens lame "Pop Charger".

Does the warpspeed kit place the filter in the fender, or under the headlight section? It says fender, but I'm really not seeing how that works. Reading the instructions it goes:
TB-->tubing-->s-pipe-->tubing-->MAF-->o-ring-->adapter-->tubing-->inlet pipe-->tubing-->filter
It doesn't specificly say WHERE you supposed to cut the hole for the inlet pipe.

yeah but its really best to use a hole saw. I used a 3.5" hole saw in my old 92 and its the cleanest cut and install I have ever seen. I finished it off with some plastic edge protection. I wish the guy that did my 93 (was done before I got it) used a hole saw like I did. Its a butchered up mess.

From what I've gathered from ppl on the Forums is that, sure, the mandrel piping that replaces the stock piping will allow air to flow smoothly through. However, once it reaches the throttle body in a VG, it'll get disturbed anyway, losing the flow. Sure, it might add a little bit more volume, but is it worth putting $200? for what? like 1HP? I used to want to go that route. I think the only thing I'd do is just a cone filter. No mandrel piping for an NA VG.

I guess the noise would be good? At least it'd sound fast?

Some sort of hijacking, but a question nonetheless:
Anyone know the bolt specifications/attributes for bolts that connect the MAF to the stock aircleaner? I have to pass smog in California, and my CAI has no carb sticker. Slapping the old intake back on but there was sadly no bolts.

oh dont worry... your just hijacking it from the hijackers from the thread starter... lol

i havent been able to do more work on it i just got some other stuff i was installing this weekend ill get some pics of those when im done

BTW that bold on the frame is a bugger to grind through sooo i ground around it and bent it with a hammer lol

the sides are done now i have to grind more of the bottom so i can get my 90 degree in it. after that ill put the full mock up kit in it and see if i can buy the REAL piping and cone filter

and this CAI is for a VE not VG

I couldn't anymore. No VG to fit it on (didn't take measurements or anything lol). Jeff might be able to, but I kind of doubt it since we are in the same boat.

Dang, Oh well I'm considering this one http://www.warpspeedperformance.com/maxcai.htm as posted by triple G but I'm just wondering...is that K&N cone filter worth the extra bucks or is there something additional for the price being $75 for one and $175 for the other..is the only difference the absence of the cone filter?

75$ one is upper tube only - just the s-pipe to the MAF. Not including the L pipe to ur fender. FTL
