CrankShaft?

CrankShaft?

Got the crankshaft bolt and such off now is there a special puller for this one or what? I can see where the oil leak is on the side of the shaft i wanna get this sucker fixed

it's called a harmonic balancer puller/installer. i'm a little concerned that you're attacking such a job and unaware of the process and tools involved. do you have a shop manual to guide you through?

ya usualy i do car audio, detailing and such iv done some engine work on my 355 LT1 (94 firebird) i didnt know if this was the same it looks alittle different then the harm balancer on my other car.. i got one of those pullers somewhere

Are you pulling the Crank pulley just to be clear? I took one off a Sentra with a 3 jaw pulley puller (2 jaw would have been better) and installed an UDP with a rubber mallet.

BTW is your pulley wobbling?

nah its not wobbling ya the crank pulley i gotta get to the seal

Once you pull the balancer off the I think you will have to remove the timing gear and belt also to get to the front seal if thats where it leaks.

yup..he'll need to pull the t-belt off...then pull the lower t-belt gear and washer off and then get to the oil seal. huge PITA IMO.

If you've got a GXE as stated in your profile, you're going to have to pull the timing belt and etc off like Dan said... if you're dead-set on replacing it, go right ahead.. but replace the timing belt and water pump while you're in there.

belt only has 20k on it and im selling the car as soon as its fixed for $2000 or something they redid the seal but didnt do it right idiots..
