Where is the ECU located on an 89 maxima?

My friend wants to check the codes on his ECU but i have a 4th gen and im not sure where his ECU would be located, and he's out of town.

Is it behind the center dash.. near the gas petal like mine is?

Thanks,
Dave

I think he meant that he doesnt know where the 3rd gen ECU is located because he has a 4th gen. He doesnt seem to be asking where its located on a 4th GEN.

but yea I believe you just have to unscrew that plastic piece and your ECU should be right there in the center.

Ok, heres what he says.. Which its not making sense.. having decoded my 4th gen. i would think it would be pretty similar? Did he miss something? He says it blinks at the same speed. and they blink at the same time
He has an 89 maxima.

The Red and Green LED's blink in unison.
Im told the sequence he decoded is:

both lights.....
blink
blink blink
blink blink blink
blink blink blink blink
blink blink blink blink blink

I know 12345 would not be correct. Any ideas?
