Some E36 and stock Maxima lens pics

not complete or anything but I just remembered I had an old factory lens outside that was already off the headlight so I thought I would set them on my E36s to see how much work will be involved in putting the clear factory lens from those other lights on the E36.

As you can see it will take a little cutting here and there on the light assy. itself in order for them to sit down far enough to seal. All in all I think it will work and if you pull it off you will truly have a set of E36s that look as if they belong on the car.

I have a set of the Euro housings that I may try to cut and see if I can get them to fit together but I dont want to cut on the ones pictured...just in case it doesnt work right.

here are the pics I have now...I will take some others if I cut the euro housings.

Nice work, man this forum kicks butt. I like how *most* people try to do tasteful and unique mods and try to make them look clean.

Your average civic owner would gladly put BMW headlights on his car, but wouldn’t bother him/herself with aiming them or making them look professional, or even wiring them up to the factory switch…

haha you have a habit of not reading posts today dont you lol...

I didnt do any more work on them because those are just factory covers with the lines and such in them (I think they may even have a crack in them). I only posted those pics to show people how the factory lens fit on the bmw lights so people could make up their mind if they wanted to buy the clear lights and put the lens on the E36s.

I have done nothing else to those lights since I took that picture and dont plan on anything except maybe pulling my old E36 frame out to make the cuts and see if I can get them to seal but I have way to many things going on to do that right now.

It would not be a good idea to put your stock lenses on the BMW lights because it would look funny and the light output would be bad.

Dan I posted that a while back...I figured you would have bought those by now .

whats all the hot glue for?

did you take apart the light bulb housing? and used hot glue for a seal?...

you see, im trying to take mine off so i can thoroughly clean them (inside and out)

when i tried to pry one off, there was maybe some RTV glue or something

i didnt go through with it because i didnt want to break them and or not able to put them back together that night

how did you take them apart, did you heat them? or just pry them off with a flathead?

The process to taking them apart is 350o for 8-10 min then pry apart repeat the process to reseal them, i'll be doing mine this weekend.

So you're not taking about separating the glass lens? May be I mis understood the question.

The only way to get inside of the lens is baking it and prying it apart.
