Hot/Cold Slider Control Sticking

I can't move my hot/cold slider more than halfway without "assisting" it near the heater core. It looks like I have to pull most of the dash apart to get to it. Has anyone else had this problem? I have the non-electronic temp control dash.

Before you go out and buy another climate control unit, get a Qtip and some pretroleum jelly. Try your best to lube up the rail in which the level slides. If you goop enough on the rail and mess with the slider, it should break lose. I did this 4 years ago and it's been perfect ever since!
