did you also check the ignition wire?
there are 2 wires (at least) that feed power to the HU and 1 (at least) for ground.

if you only connected the "BAT" wire only or the "IGN" wire only then the H/U won't power up.

Did you hock up the antenna to the back of the hu, because mine wont work at all with out the antenna being hocked up. The antenna is the ground on the maxima.

i went to circuit city and bought the antenna wire..conected it and nothing.

Heres what i connected:

RED ignition wire
Orange lumination wire
YELLOW memory wire
BLACK ground.

after that didnt work...

i removed the ground wire from being connected to the after market harness' wire and i connected the wire tester to it while i use the other end to connect the red wire..the bulb on the wire tester lighted up..

2morrow i'll try connecting the ground to some part of the car's body..and see if that works.

also i never connected any speaker or amp to the deck..i was just trying to see if i got power to the deck.

Sgibb : i connected the ground wire to the black wire coming out of the harness...

also i tried this without pushing the deck in...it was on my lap

any i felt a shock while holding the metal part of it when i turn the car on.

Thanks again

ok after taking a drink of water and easing off the tension..i just remembered something:

when i touched the red wire and black wire which were both coming off from the harness it didnt light.

but when i touched the red wire and black(coming from the headunit) it lighted.

Maybe the harness's ground wasnt working..so i need to connect it to a ground..but i rememberd at the back, everything is almost plastic..so do u think its good to run a ground from there to maybe to under my car seat? or somewhere? or u guys know a better grounding place.

Thanks my friends

internetautomar : no, i actually didnt think about that tomorrow after work i'll try that.

Maxteca: Well personally i think i did, cause my bose stereo didnt store information, it resets after i take the car off. But the bose did worked.

tomorrow i'll verify the ground theory, if that doesnt work i'll try to get some new fuse and try that.

Thanks again guys.
i really appreciate the help!

ok guys heres what i did:

i connect the red wire from harness to headunit, use the tester clamped it, then i touched various parts of the car. until i found a screw that made it light. After finding one i touched the ground wire from the headunit to the screw. then tried turning it on...nothing.

As a matter of fact, the ground wont even spark when i touch the screw. its like the ground isnt connected to the headunit at all...

so i tried put the antenna into the headunit and tried again..nothing....

is the headunit bad? i mean its brand new

sounds like it is bad. where did you buy it from? hopefully not e-bay. you could take it to a stereo shop and they should have a ac-dc converter on hand to hook it up and test if it turns on or not. sounds like you have it installed correctly.

I'll be hooking up an aftermarket HU and equalizer/amp in my 94 Max this weekend. First time I've done it myself. Sorry you're having so many problems but make sure and post what you find out from BB.

I'll be amazed if I get mine in with no problems. The info about grounding is most appreciated. Great info from the org once again!

NO don't do that dude, that's a complete waste of money. it sounds like you have it installed correctly. make sure the sucker works first. have you checked the deck's inline fuse? if you still can't get it to work, do what i mentioned. any good stereo shop will hook it up to a converter and test it for free. since it's off ebay, i'm guessing it might be fried by some retard who thinks he can rip people off. send it back and file a dispute with paypal if the seller won't work with you. print out the auction page for evidence that it was sold as a brand new, working unit.

ok guys heres my updates:
after work i took it into bestbuy, they tested it and it worked. So since i was there i asked how much it would cost for installation, they said about 150, so after taxes it was about 160. Everything works now.

They didnt let me in the room though insurance reason or some b.s. but the guy did let me know that i had a blown fuse. after they fixed the fuse the antenna now works, the seatbelts and also the security feature(stock)

so its got to be the fuse.

Also for some reason my bose speakers are playing with the subwoofer ...i guess they hooked it up also..or they just connected the wire together?

would that mess anything up?...i did menstion i was going to change the front and rear bose speakers next week, maybe they thought it wouldnt hurt to let them play for a few days?
