If you want something that's easy to install with better output than stock but not as good as E36's the euro headlights are worth looking at. So E36 > Euro > stock. It's a matter of whether ease of installation or maximum output are more important to you.

If you want maximum light output (and lowest cost), upgrade the wiring harness (complete with relays) and convert to 9007s. Until I did this, I hated driving my car at night. Now it's awesome! The difference in brightness is incredible.

"I already said that the beam pattern is better than stock. No it's not as great as an E36 projector conversion but it also bolts right in with no modification. The stock beam pattern is extremely crappy. I had a headlight out one time and didn't even know it until i was stopped behind someone and saw my headlight reflection on their car and noticed one was out. So better than stock but not as great as E36's. These are good for people that want better lighting than stock without modifying anything. There's no aiming issues or fitment issues. They fit and aim just like stock. So there that's the final word you can take it or leave it."

so what kind are these called ^? and how much do they cost?

Euro Clear Headlights 89-94 Nissan Maxima,
(black housing is available too, i would like to see some one install them with smoked corners)
Custom Enterprise had them $180(but site no longer existant)
EBAY has them $78.00 +$40.00 = $$$$108.00 Shipped !!!

IMO that is spectacular upgrade considering a stock pair is over way over that.(and as BRU91 said , the projection is far greateer than stock, and as i said they look like 4th gen heads) I was looking at one light (due to a lil accident a lucky one indeed) and it was in the 60-80$ range. So i was like screw it I want a hot pair for the same damn price.

What does the beam pattern look like at night? how well does it illuminate the road. Becuse there's no rugged edges inside the headlight to portray the light basically it's like having a set of flashlights as headlights.

Nigh pix!

Would buying these be a better deal than just replacing one of the stock headlights? My right headlight is getting moisture buildup inside of it and Im gonna have to replace it or get some new lights and these seem like a good deal and an OK upgrade until I have enough time/money for the e36's. Really it's just how much more would a pair of these cost compared to a single OEM replacement becasue it's my parents money and they don't wanna spend ALOT more.

maybe it's me but it seems as if the pattern is only centering in circular pattern your lows are'nt even lighting up the sides at all. maybe try a 20ft range night pic.

Has anyone tried to change out that smooth euro reflector with a reflector from inside this light:

source: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=150126950854

The overall shape looks very similar, and looks like it can actually shape the beam. Probably can be merged with slight modification, if any.

...i didnt have any problems with them, only thing was ...as it shows in the picture you get a 2 flash light beam pattern sorta look, I think... they lit the road up just as fine as stock did, and look amazing in the day, at 1/2 the price of ugly stock ones. As stated b4 by the thread starter. If you are totally buying lights for output go with e-36 fit outs. If you are on a budget and want an appealing upgrade with a pretty similar output go with these hotties.

no go...the reflector is molded into the rear housing of the light. it's not like there's a shield in there you pop out. the front lenses won't interchange..(trust me i looked).

Does anyone know if the clears have likt a crosshatch on the lens that will cast a better pattern? Or is it just simply clear plastic w/o the crosshatch molded in the lens? I saw this little Mazdaspeed 3 that had little crosshatch nodules designed into the lens to help distribute the light. I just can't believe they'd make clears w/o that.

they are clear glass. these lights are perfect for a bixenon projector retrofit w/ HID. they will keep the smooth curve to the car. be easily aim-able. and very big on the inside making it easy to work with retrofiting. not to mention glass lenses come off very easily in the oven.

clear means it doesn't have anything on the lens.

Yeah, I know that. But what I mean is new cars with clear/projector styled headlights have a tiny (almost microscopic) crosshatch design on the plastic lens cover to better evenly distribute the light that comes from the bulb. pay attention to the headlights in newer cars. better yet, check out the new Mazdaspeed3 and you will see what i mean. I was wondering if the clears for the Maxima had that or if they were just plain and clear with no crosshatch?

I'll have to check these Mazdaspeed3s and see what you are talking about, because it sounds like a diffraction grating if its actually that small, which is usually hundreds to thousands of lines per inch. That does not belong on a headlight at all though.

As far as I know, the only way to shape light at the cover (after being emitted and reflected) is to use it as a lens, with bulges and shapes that redirect outer light to the inside at a focal point x distance away. Our OE lights do this and make a rectangle shape, it doesnt seem to me that small crosshatches would do that very well.

I maintain an E46 bmw and the covers in front of its lights just have 3 long horizontal lines etched into them, I'm not sure if they serve a purpose, but they are there.

yes the clear euros for use are 100% clear. there are also FLUTED lenses which what our stock ones. and then the LINED lenses that some cars have on them. they dont really help with light distribution but they help with keeping the lights clean and preventing ice and so forth from building up.

The 1992-1994 GXE's and SE's are very similar; though the SE's are "smoked" so it adds a slightly darker effect.

Or You can take it off and fiberglass that section:

Other than that, not really much you can do unless you want to get.... erm.. "Creative"

you were saying you could take the reflector panel off? how would you do that, just grab a flat head screwdriver and pop it off?

No, but seriously these questions are getting RIDICULOUS. Honestly, you can walk out to your car, look at whatever it is your asking about, "Headlights or tail lights" And plainly SEE the bolts, screws, harness' or whatever else you need to do to remove them. I mean most of the stuff you're asking is common sense and you're just too lazy to go look. I'm not trying to be an a** here but I see these types of questions from you in like, every thread. I mean this community is here to help people with problems and answer questions, but not hold your hand while you turn the screwdriver to get your tail light off. I'm sure you've heard this now by a trillion people, but... USE THE.... SEARCH.

It's easy, "Free Search" ; "Forums.Maxima.org" ; "3rd gen tail light removal"

And if all else fails, go pick up a Haynes Manual, download the FSM, donate the $20 for the good search... or just go LOOK at your car.
