You mean camshaft position sensor?

It is inside the distributor on a gxe[vg engine].

No,you can replace it separately..But it is a very expensive part!

Are you sure it is bad?

It would probably be much cheaper for you to just take it to a shop for diagnostics instead of just throwing parts at it....

Also,It would also help us diagnose the problem better if you ask all your questions in your original thread, just so everyone knows what you have been instructed to do/and which parts have been replace and so on..

my car's been acting up for 2 weeks now. it had broken studs, oil leaks, bad timing belt... its back together and still running terrible. got 180 lbs of compression on each. was getting fire on each, but had a few that were seeming to not be contributing. was checking injectors (which seem to be fine) when i came across a test in my manual that said to take the distibutor out and turn it. as you do, it should fire injectors and you can listen for noise.

when i first pulled it out, the movement was notchy and i could make injectors click by rotating it. but as i was listening to individual injectors by unplugging all but one at a time and rotating it, the notchyness went away. the distributor now basically freewheels (cap off). i dont want to pull it apart to see whats up because of the position sensor wheel. i put it back in and now it just spins over like its not firing or doing anything. at least before it would crank. so the question i need answered is:
"does the distributor (sohc single coil with wires) have some kind of detents inside where it is supposed to be notchy or is is supposed to turn freely?"

happy '07 to all! may you remember to write the correct date on documents from the beginning
