2-Piston Brake Upgrade

Alright, guys-
Next up on the ole' mod list is a front brake upgrade...Why? Because one of my stock calipers has a small leak, I will have some money when I get back from Christmas Break, and the winter is the time to tinker, since the Max is parked...

Pardon any obvious questions...I haven't had too much time to thoroughly read related threads, and am posting this on a break from studying for finals (machine design and hydraulic systems)...Just so we're clear, I am looking for a 2-piston front setup.

1) I need to know ANY and ALL differences between J30 and Q45 calipers and rotors. Also, are the diameters the same as stock rotors?
2) Which setup is BETTER or what combination of parts is optimal?
3) Any requirements other than bolting-it-on for installation?

That outta start me off in the right direction. Will do some of my own research on the subject over Christmas, so thanks to any contributors!

Happy Holidays!

Well now that you bring this up.. I'm gonna thrown in something which will be a question as well.

J30 and 300ZX share almost everything. Is it true 300ZX Calipers are aluminium (lightweight) and J30 are heavier material? but both fit leMaxima right?

J30 / 300zx calipers. One is 2 piston/steel. Other is 4 piston steel and aluminum.

Except for the common mounting dimensions, you might as well be discussing two totally diff calipers.

As far as I know using the J30 or Q45 is the same thing. Might be minor difference if you try to mount parts inbetween the two but you shouldn't be doing this.

I think Q45's allow for the even larger rotors. Anyone tried adapting these?

You can use my bbk brackets/rings, 13" cobra rotors w/ the Q or J calipers. See brake/suspension stickies

Does anyone know if 3rd Gens can do the same 6th Gen brake upgrade, that the 4th Gen guys do? I believe they just largen the TQ Member holes to 14mm, from 12mm, and just bolt the 6th Gen calipers & rotors on.
