They are basicly two completely different engines. VE has 30 more hp and about 5 ftlbs more torque.

Also:

VG = no mechanic needed
VE = 24 hour standby mechanic and NICE Craftsman Tool Set....I'm talking a 600 piece one...

Hmmm.....maybe I should get a VE to get the nice tool set....

Here's the deal 89-94 VG has 160hp/182 ft torque, the VE has 190hp/190 torque. The VG autos seem to pull much harder than the VE auto's and defnately use their torque down low where most drivers like it. Actually the 89-94 VG autos seem to have a better launch than the 4th or 5th gen autos to me. As far as 5 speeds the VE is much more powerful/quicker than a VG 5spd stock for stock.

A VG auto or 5 speed can only take a VE auto in first gear after that.It is time for the VE to step in a kick some A*s...Oh yeah I saw a VG broke down on the freeway last night. And oh yeah my VE has 206,000+ and I have had it since it had around 125,000 all I have replaced is the axles,starter,battery,brakes...Pretty reliable all in all *KNOCK ON WOOD*

VG=too slow to need a mechanic. Just get new hamsters for the treadmill.
VE=lotsa power. just no bozos allowed. you are not a bozo are ya?

You haven't raced me

Anyway, 99.9% of all people know VE's are faster then VG maximas. An auto VE would be a good race for a 5-sp VG but that's about as close as it gets.

1989
The Nissan Maxima wins the 1989 Easy Maintenance Car of the year award from home Mechanix Magazine in the U.S. J.D. Power & Associates names the 1989 Nissan Maxima the model that has the fewest number of problems per 100 cars of any 1989 model year vehicle marketed in the U.S.

I never been out to the track with my 89 se. But its quick.

You probably only thought you were racing a VE. I bet it was an 89-91 SE that still had the VG. I have a VE 5spd that keeps pace with the new CLS. I lose every time, but not by that much, and my car has 134K on it. All I need is a Y-pipe and a new muffler to tie that one up. Hopefully I will get up into the VQ scene if i could ever find a 97-99 SE 5spd. All I see is auto's, what are people thinking when they buy that SH*T.

VG's are weak. And if someone says they can smoke a VE or a VQ with one.I want what they are smoking.Like Jeff92se said a VG 5 speed would be the closest a VG could get to a VE auto. Now the VE auto will start ripping on the VG 5 speed in second gear and all the way threw the top end.The VG has its little spirt in first and that is it.I have taken VG's off the line on the street and crushed them on the top end.Now when I get my Torque Converter I can start playing with the VQ's I raced a VQ once I stayed with him up until about 35mph then he started pulling on me.

well, if it was a fourth gen maxima, it had the VQ. VQ = faster than VE. there's no way that happened. you must be confused or something to think you took a VE, and even more confused to think you took a VQ.

VG owners are very confused James...They think because they see tight A*s 3rd gen. VE's smashing around that they are fast too.I will be damned if a VG takes me out alive.

I play with VQ's....

I will say this, a VE 'feels' no faster than a VG. I drove my buddy's 91 SE auto and it has decent pickup (I didn't rev it to where the VE makes power) VG has a short torque curve down low where it actually pulls a *bit* harder than a VE but soon the fun is over as the VE starts to really pull at VTC. Let's face it, I get there quicker,.. do you know any VG's in the 14's with a cone filter only? actually do you know any VG's in the 15's with only a cone filter?

BTW I am going racing tomorrow. The weather here is supposed to be really hot (hot = bad times) but never the less I will be looking to reclaim the title for the fastest NW 3rd gen. 14.5 baby!!

Now there is a VE with some nutz(Czar's is fast as hell with just a pop charger)VG vs VE the difference is the same as the difference between a male dog that is fixed vs a male dog that is not fixed and that is =nutz the VE has more nutz!

yes, it was corrected, no one cares though because u know VEs are nicer

I drove a VG a few times, didn't relly push them hard but I can honestly say acceleration was much like my car to like 35 mph.

Still, let's face the facts, we have 30 hp more, u need a full exaust and an intake to hang with that, buddy lol..

I might have to agree with Bill on the reliability factor,
I've heard of numerous VGs with high milage etc, highest milage VE i ever heard of is d-max, and there is another guy who has a 4th gen now but used to have a VE, said he had 225k or so when he got rid of it...

who cares anyways... VE power.
