hey guys i just bought a straight/racing/test(whatever u wanna call it) pipe for my car off the internet. Ive heard these are really good and can increase hp because the stock catalystic converter is so restrictive. I think i got a pretty good deal on this (24.99 plus 10.00 s&h) Is this a deal?? i heard u can get them custom made but this one was already made and ready to go for any maxima 89-94 so i went for it. Could any of u guys that know a little about this and/or have one tell me a little about it like realistic hp gains, how loud it is and if it will be a good first mod. thanks

....

I had an offraod pipe made to exchange with my CAT. You'll lose low end TQ, and gain high end hp. about 2-5 on a stock catback. The nice thing about the off raod pipe is your passing speed on the highway.

Yeah, I'd tend to agree with Mr. Rose. The only thing you're sacrificing is the low end. Which kinda sucks for me where I am, because 'rice boys' are always getting me at the jump. But I got them buggin out when I run 'em down and show them how my @$$ looks...

I have the same pipe. (Muffle Tech) thats where you baught it from right? To be honest I dont really notice the difference that much as far as loosing low end. But you do see the gains at high speed. The only thing I can tell you my car was quicker with stock exhaust.
stock exhaust 16.2 1/4 mile
muffler add 16.4
straight pipe 16.6
So i dont know what the deal, but the 16.6 was with a clogged fuel injector. I just cleaned and havent tested it out yet.
