Remember, I'm not a reseller of someone else's stuff. I design and build all my own stuff.
I'll soon be farming out the LTBs and possibly the brake brackets, but I still want to stay as involved as I can in them to 1. keep costs down for me (profits up), and 2. make sure the customer gets quality product.
If I'm the one taking and filling the orders, I'll make sure the customer gets the right part they need, rather than some goober just calling up and asking for a brake bracket for his Maxima.
"which one bracket? which year car? I sell four."
"Uhhh, 5th gen."
"What year?"
"1999."
"that's 4th gen."
"No it's not."
"Yes it is."
"No it's not. sell me the part for a 5th gen."
"Umm okay, but it's your fault when you get the wrong part. what bracket do you want?"
"The one to fit the skyline calipers and cobra rotors on my 5th gen."
.......................... (the call goes on, but you get the point)
A fulfillment service would have simply sold the above idiot (that's a real phone call, btw) my Z32 relo kit for a 5th gen.... I would have then had to deal with a pissed off customer AND a return when he spent $600+ on parts and nothing fit together.
Instead, I sold said idjit a complete brake package, including rotors, calipers, lines, the CORRECT brackets (I shipped him the 4th gen brackets and told him they were 5th on the receipt to keep him happy).
Customer was extremely pleased with the product and came back for an LTB and bushings later. I wound up selling considerably more than the guy first asked for because of my involvement, AND the customer was happy.
With every increasing level of detachment, there are decreasing levels of customer satisfaction and product quality.
In plain english: leave the middleman out and you'll do better.

you still handle the customers and make the products, but you don't handle the shipping or storage of them.
Less headaches (shipping) mean more time for better products and production.

I'm gonna have to agree on the six flags idea as well, nice big parkin lot, plenty of things to do...only prob is that when you go, you gotta at least spend the entire day there

Lol, the Porsche is boring compared to the max.... It just looks better.
The GTO is a blast though... I gave a guy a ride once, it was a little wet out. I had it sideways in 2nd gear for almost a block (launched from a stop sign) swapped ends, made the turn and hit 60MPH in about 3 seconds spinning through 4th. I don't condone driving like that, many a GTO owner have wrecked their ride doing such things, but.... it sure was fun.
Dude got out of the car with the biggest eyes I've ever seen.....

It takes quite a bit to scare me riding in a car. Care to try?
And I know what you mean about sliding the GTO sideways...I did that on a test drive - traction control off, salesman holding on!

Thread Revival!
So the latest word on Maxus is that there will be no track event, and Matt is not coming...Between those points, and the fact that my money is depleting faster than I thought it would, and that I have no idea where I'm working / living as of the week after Maxus, I'm thinking of backing out as well...
Granted I still want to attend, but we'll see how things play out...This largely depends on how much it will cost me to get the paintwork done, and how much $$$ I spend at Indy the weekend prior.
If you are planning on attending, make it known and sway my decision...

Well,i have been on the fence about attending this year due to some financial set backs[medical bills
],but with no track event scheduled,no way..
It's just doesn't make much sense for me to drive 1000 miles round trip just to dyno my car, then stand around in a parking lot,but for someone that lived closer to the event,i'm sure it would be worth their time to attend..

So you're out too, Wayne? I hate to say it, boys, but this isn't shaping up too well...I will make my final decision after my trip to Indy the weekend before Maxus, but it's not looking too promising.

no sales tax worries, it's across state lines
Oh and I'll be in Vegas anyway
Wow, all these third gen in IL and one 1 comes out to all the local meets. What a shame. I also just picked up a beater 3rd gen, and I'll see if I take it. Either way, track or no track chicago has many other things to offer. hope some of you still decide to show.
