So i changed my shifter mount...

definitly was not as easy as i thought. i found a nearly new mount in the junk yard and pulled it out...well the car i got it out of had no tranny or cat so i was able to toss the linkage aside and unbolt the mount and out it came(wasnt thinking about my car still beiung in one piece)...it took me all of 10 mins...well i jacked up the max and got to work and forgot this car had the cat still (my old one didnt) so it was a whole horse of another color..then i had to disconnect the linkage and take the shifter out...i wish i would of had a STS if i knew i was gonna have to do that i would of just threw it in. it took me about an hour to do it and a couple cuts on my hand from my stupid cat conv. but its done and the shifter is very firm and has made the car a whole new feel to drive!im glad i took the time to do it. ive never had a 3rd gen 5 speed with a good shifter mount lol. kinda makes me want to keep it. below is a list of everything ive done to my max recently

125k engine swap
new t-belt,tensioner,valve cover gaskets, oil pan gasket, rear main seal(freakin leaks) lower control arms, power steering rack boots, intake mani gaskets, strut bar,4 new tires, shifter mount, filled motor mounts+tranny mounts, converted whole interior from blue to black(including dash) new front pass window reg.master cylk for brakes.

i actually have about 1,000 into this car with buying it. did all the work my self. the only things i have left to do is...

-new brake pads all around
-charge a/c
-get exuast leak fixed
-alignment

then its going up for sale and ill move on to the infinitys i have to get fixed. i originally was going to keep this car when i got it so i would not have to daily my cutlass like i was (88 RWD with SBC 350 and 22's) well in the midle of building this my cutlass got stolen from a car show so i decided to buy a 3 series as a daily and just get the maxx done and sell it..but now i am thinking maybe sell the 3 series and daily the maxima since its cheaper to fix and operateand has already had so much done its good for at least 100k. plus some money in the bank would be nice
thgen she s ready to go for sale.

eh, daily the max. the 3 series are nice, but unless you plan on sourcing the parts yourself and doing the repairs yourslef it'll financially eat you alive

And a Maxima won't? Do you know how much it costs to have, say, your timing belt or exhaust studs replaced by someone else? A LOT...

timing belt isn't that expensive to do.
but if the power windows fail on your 3 series it costs big $$ much cheaper to fix on the max even of you're paying labor.

look at tune up costs too.

Personally I can get away with whatever car I want as I don't pay labor.
but for the average person the labor adds up PDQ.

not to mention many shops won't touch a bimmer

Any reputable shop will work on something German. The ones that don't are run by ignorant, simple cavemen.

well i did all the maxima my self so it wsnt abd at all ive had so many of them i am not worried about anything that goes wrong becasu ei can usually fix it. same with the three series i had a 4 door before this and did alot to it. i know hwo to work on it but certain parts are cheap and certain ones are rediculously exspenive and its usually the preventative maintance items. my a/c compressor was only 250.00 NEW and a new clutch is around 300-400 plus install which is a whole new ballgame lol...
