Question: 3rd Gen Engine Vs. 4th Gen Engine

Are the engine in the 92-94 SE the same as the engine in the 4th Gen maximas?

I thought they were, because they both have the same spec. But why is the 4th Gen engine VQ and the 92-94 SE engine VE?

Can anyone tell me what the difference is?

VQ has more torque than the VE

THe VQ engine is COMPLETELY different from the VE. Check MaxFaqs@ http://web2.airmail.net/scutchen/max_faq/ for a more through explaination.

thanks for posting this link. it has great info, especially since i am looking into getting a 4gen max se. it give lots of explanations in the differences between all max engines.
