I rather drive my 240 in the snow than a maxima on all-seasons. A FWD car with all-seasons in the snow understeers like the world is going to end. Ive got 2 more than half gone, 7-year old winter tires on the front of my beater (93 plymouth Sundance) and the understeer is completely fuking ridiculous so I put back two all-seasons in the rear. Now its better.

Of course a FWD with all seasons in snow would understeer but what about a RWD, what about over-steer? doesnt happen? At least with a FWD you can correct the understeer by slightly pulling the handbrake and bam you're set to go.

What do you do to not oversteer a RWD?

understeer = teh suck. oversteer = teh fun! If you oversteer you just go with the flow and don't spin out.

Other then that I onno buy better tires, but thats no fun....

could just be the pic but it looks like the inside of the tire is wearing more.

But my 240sx has similar tires with 80% tread and it does fine in the snow. Then again its also got a good weight bias and I know how to drive in the snow.

Just a little tip...never brag about your abilities. Always let someone else talk about them for you.

Hey TheresYourMind, make sure your tires arent over-inflated cuz they do look worn in the center at least from that pic but I could be wrong

Blah. Ones opinion of a good driver varies quite a bit. I use the term loosely. You'd never guess who called you a bad driver...But thats OT so forget that.

But in the end skills>tires>car. If your a good enough driver even with bad tires you'd know to follow farther and slow down more for turns and all that fun stuff. But thats rare sadly..

Haha! people dont know the difference between a speedy/road rage filled driver from a bad driver. I'm not really concerned nor worried about who called me a bad driver, my mom herself thinks I'm a bad driver but that's because I dont drive 20mph on a 30mph limit like her so I dont care what people think of my driving as long as I'm comfortable and dont have moving violations OTHER than speeding.

Anyhow, I can only agree to certain extent on skill>tires but I'll leave it at that.

There's not much any driver can do if they don't have traction...

how they drive adds to the amount of traction they have.

Adds? No just means they know what to do with what traction they have.

OK so what I really mean is as long as the tires have some grip and aren't bald driver>tires>car

MrGone, you're my hero, you know why? cuz I dont leBelieve any of that "if the driver" this "if the driver" that BS. Only thing I'll say is you shouldn't floor it or make the wheels spin

I'd like to see a good driver with worn out OR crappy tires in a snow filled parking lot try to get out that'd be a good way to test that "its all about the driver" theory

find the parking lot, and we'll put my bald a$$ caddy with me driving against your new tires.
Just better hurry up, I got new tires in today, but had other issues to take of so they aren't mounted yet
