E36 questions?

do any of u guys have a pair of E36 projector headlights installed on ur car? if so how much cutting was required compared to the regular E36 headlights. reason i ask cuz i will be replacin' mines with the projectors and the ccfl's (angel eye rings). first i was thinkin' about just installin' the rings but felt that i needed projectors with the ccfl's as well. now i will be modifyin' the e36 housin' with the maxima euro headlight lense. i got the idea i think from Michael or Brian in a previous thread from when they first came out.

Well, I know that they require more modification than what is required for the regular e36's. How much more, I'm not altogether sure - mostly because I've only installed the regular ones.

the stock healidght bracket gets thrown out. u attach them to the subframe. and u need to find a way to attach your grill to stay stationary. also your cornors. but they make such a difference you'll never know. don't put hids in them unless you know how to colormod the lense so there is less glare with more color on the cut off. feel free to AIM me with ?'s I did mine. the 3 choices for headlights u have are ZKW, DEPO, or HELLA. dont get a ****ty ebay one cause they are garbage. depo = 250$, zkw - 180$, hella = 1000$. the zkw are the best bang for your buck and they are sturdier than the depo's. with thicker plastic. depo use h7 bulbs for high/low (thats what i have), zkw use H1 bulbs. and the hella use H1 highbeam, D2S hid for low beam. hope this helped!

The $180 "ZKWs" on Ebay are actually DJAutos, which are the worst out of the 4 (DJ Auto, Depo, ZKW, Hella).

i can mod them cuz i work for BMW and i get the projectors by themself and i can just buy the ccfl rings separatly but didn't want to cuz i just wanted the whole headlight assembly put together. how hard is it to install projectors in the regular E36 headlights? if it ain't hard then i'll go that route. for HID's i have the stock Nissan Murano kit but bought the bulbs from ebay for $80.

dont bother. the US spec hjave plastic lenses. compared to glass. and when u install the euro lights you can aim them when installed in the car. the US lights you have to completely rescrew and reaim.
