i want to wrap new rubber around my stock rims to stick with my "sleeper" look and i want to know what is the difference if i put 205\50\15 on a car where there were 205\60\15 on it i know how to read the side wall and i know its just the height but will i notice any differece with the speedo or anything like that??

 

especially the 205-50-15. Stock size is 205-65-15. Running any tire diameter smaller or larger than stock size will affect the speedo readings. For more information go to http://www.tirerack.com and search the tech sections for information regarding tire information.

 

how badly could it screw up the speedo? 1-5 mph whats the big deal with that?? will it screw up anything else tranny etc??

 

you won't be able to tell the difference with such a small difference in diameter. you should get 215's though with 50 series. less sidewall will give you quicker response when you drive. and a wider tire will give you better grip.

 

If you go to the tire rack you can see exactly how much if will effect your speedo. I think that it would effect it at least by a couple oh miles an hour. No big deal really but you should find out in which way it will effect you. For instance if you are acctually going faster than the speedo or slower. Just to save you some confusing speeding tickets.

A 205/50 would increase your RPM, for a given road speed, about 5% compared to what you have now. It's about 10% greater than the original tire size (205/65). It would probably give you better acceleration, worse gas milage, a harsh ride, but won't break anything.
You won't look like a sleeper, either. More like a slot car.

 

you won't really notice a harsh ride with a 50 series tire. especially without lowering. i went from 60 series tires on 15 inch billet rims to 45 series tires on 17 inch alloys. the ride isn't THAT harsh. i need new shocks too after lowering a year ago too. so you'll be fine getting those tires.

 

I've had them on my SE rims and my neighbor has had them on his GXE rims. We both love that size tire. You can push it hard and won't have to worry about the engine rpms being altered or the speedometer being altered. That's my personal recomendation. They fit nice on his GXE 6 inch rims, slightly more bold on the SE 6.5 inch rims though.
