iknow they wont look like factory angel eyes, but it's a virtually free mod worth of trying , i installed projectors w/ angel eyes on my brothers civic yesterday and the cuts on the plastic (or acrylic) rod dont look much different than those in this project (same principle, the cuts make the light visible throughout the perimeter). i guess the type of bulb you put in would make the difference,
i have a friend with an e36 bmw waiting on his projectors, so i'll have his stock headlights for free, i'll try to do this and post results and hopefully a write-up

cant really do the stock lights. they have a plastic lense and they break very commonly when u oven them to take them apart. not to mention they angel eye rim isnt there to clip into like the euro ones.... the BEST angel eye rings are fiber optic. here are mine with red LEDs. i took out the ugly ones. and put in red led's. (mine are the factory led crappy ones), and i only wanted the high-beam ones to be on. i dont like having 4 rings.

i wouldnt suggest doing them on oem e36 headlights. theres no way to get the headlgiths cover apart without damaging them. these rings were mounted behind the glass lense and even then i had to hack apart the dome reflectors in the back.
