is there an exhaust gasket between the end of the y pipe and the rest of the exhaust. I took off my y pipe to get a hole welded and I didnt notice a gasket. Is there one?

i know i know no comments about shoddy exhaust maintenance just need my max to last me about another year. no need for warpspeed y pipe

yup...there's a generic 2 bolt gasket in there.

 

what are the odds that the autoparts store can get me one in the morning?

 

Depends on how good they are but they should be able to w/o much of a problem.

is the y of the y pipe cast or pure steel?

 

if i'm understanding your question correctly...

i believe the material of the actual stock Y pipe is stainless steel (409)...and i'm not talking about the cover/heatshield around it.
