I have recently noticed the car('91 SE 5spd) jerking when I try to go into first gear from nuetral. But it seems to be fine in higher gear changes. Any ideas on what this could be?

Oh sorry, a girl named Sarah sold me her PR CAI on eBay a few months ago. She was born in 1977 too. Her email name was girliegrl1977. She also said that she was selling her 3rd gen car and buying a newer one...sounded a lot like you.
