Ignition Module

Well, I've had this crazy sputter problem with my SE for months and I believe to have solved it. I decided to start unpluging ignition coils with it running and noticed when one of them was disconnected the RPMs never changed and pulling out my old chiltons I decided to test my Ignition module. WELL WHAT DO WE HAVE HERE?.......not only one but 2 of my contacts checked bad.....what I'm really getting to is, does any one have a tested (working properly) ignition module that I could take off thier hands? $350.00 is just too much for a brand new one on my pathetic Military salary. Thanks:attention

I think you mean the ingition transisitor or module. It's on the rear of the engine, at the rear of the camshaft. They're hideously expensive. Try a junkyard. They don't seem to be an item that is shot after 10 years.

I think I have the same thing. Did the sputtering occur when cold or when warmed up? What other symptoms did you have?
THanks

Why the hell are they crushing all the SEs in this damn town? I hit up 8 different salvage yards and apparently all the 3rd gen SEs are crushed with no parts to salvage. One place even said we dont accept "Maxipads". So, I guess I have a bloody tampon in my driveway So, if anyone has one that is working, I'm willing to pay $50 for it. I've got a tight budget with more stuff to change on her. thanks

My bad -- I didn't look it over carefully. I looked at it and it didn't seem cracked or damaged. That could have possibly happened during shipping.

I think that one had come from my JDM engine. It wasn't even dirty and I assumed it worked, since the JDMs are supposed to be "low mile."

I fully refunded your money, even the shipping cost.

again I am sorry.

I am starting to run out of spare parts. I slowly got rid of all the junk I accumulated. I even had the car for sale, but no one wants it for the price I am asking.

good luck with your car.
