I'm a high school grad heading to college soon. I need a new used car. What I think I really want is a 90-93 Accord. Today though I saw a '93 Maxima SE at a lot. It's a five speed with 117,000 miles. They want $4,995. What I'm looking for is a nice reliable car that will get me from A to B consistently and as problem-free as possible for the next four years. I gotta tell ya, the VTC thing has me worried. It sounds like a major design flaw. But I'm asking you guys for your opinion. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

if the vtc problem does happen to you then just ground it...if your goin to college you aint gonna have money for that repair, other than that just keep up with regular maintence and your set, when you look at the car see if the engine bay is clean ,unscrew that oil cap and see if theres any biuld up in it,bring your father or take it to mechanic to have him overlook it,see if the tranny kicks on the test drive

Thanks for the for the quick reply. I wasn't really car shopping today. I was driving home and I saw it. I just walked around it, and sat in it for a bit while I entertained the salesman. If I go back to look into it I'll take my cousin who's a mechanic.

What does the grounding involve, and what is the end result?

How long do these cars last? This one is at 117k.

that car is just broken in ,people have over 200k on it here,in the end result no more ticking, save money, no performance difference,as if you never had a problem in the first place, its very simple to do ,if your cousins a mechanic we have directions on the site he could simply follow

Thanks. I think I'll go seriously check it out. Is $4995 a good price?

DO IT that is a damn good deal...Who cares about anything you better hop on that deal before someone else does.Trust me a 90-93 accord has nothing on a 92-94 SE The 92-94 SE will whip on a new accord Nissan is really way ahead of there time.Cars now are barely catching up to the 3rd generation Maxima.

WE have directions?? I see how it is; I do the work and you take credit

j/k I couldn't care less

sweet looking car 93SE; we need to get a meet with dark 3rd gens with those 5 spoke rims - you, me, dirk, NYCe (he had them for a while), Killermove, and a few others. That would be sweet

GetBush-the rewiring instructions are on my page (link below in my sig) and it's a really easy thing to do

93SE

Go for it!!
I have a 92SE 5 speed and it has been great.
Have 140,000 miles and NO VTC problems!
Take a mechanic with you and have them look the car over.
I know my car will easily hit 200,000 but I might sell it in the fall. Just time to upgrade.
