I'm sorry you kind of confused me with the way you listed those, can you rephrase it for me so I know which can be safe be put together? thanks

kyb works with: stock springs & Eibach
Tokico works with: Eibach, Intrax, & Sprint (however Intrax and Sprint cause the Tokicos to die faster)
Koni works with: stock springs, Eibach, Intrax, & Sprint

how's that?

Most of the people here like KYB, I think its because they are inexpensive parts. I put them on my '89 when I had it, I thought they sucked. They are soft like stock and I had no reason they would hold up to the abuse of any lowering spring. My $0.02, as someone that has run Eibach/Koni, Eibach/Tokico and KYB/stock SE, is that Tokico are the minimum. The KYB aren't worth it from a modding for performance point of view. Just don't bother.

I personally like em, they're just slightly stiffer than stock and not to harsh for a smooth ride, I would use em again. I'd go with a different set up if I was using my car for a different purpose

im thinking about intrax w/ tokico (mostly from a budget-set mind)
.. what would you say the "life-expectancy" on the struts be? this is just my dd, and i throw in into a few corners here and there, but nothing wild.

I know that tokes blow out fast.

Though kyb's aren't made to run low, mine take alot of abuse with sprints and hold up.

Of course they would be better, stock struts are done at about 90K. Though, I would highly doubt the KYB would last another 90K.

But my comment was speaking toward lowering applications, not repair.

I thought long and hard about what I could afford to let my Max ride on...I did ultimately decide on Konis, although that took away ANY extra money I had at the time...Overall IMO it's the only way to go...

I currently have KYB GR2s with stock springs and I love it cuz its not too harsh on Chicago's bumpy roads, yet stiffer than stock. I'd like to drop my car but dont want it too rough. Alex has been kind of convincing me to go for the Eibachs since I have GR2s..would that be too stiff or just fine?

There is the off-chance I will be purchasing a GTO this year as opposed to waiting until I graduate as I originally intended. If that's the case I could just sell you my car...I KNOW you want it, John...

Meh, who knows...if the right things fall into place during the summer I will, but ONLY if it is necessary to buy a GTO...I still love the Max!

AllMaxx, just so you know: the car wouldnt be able to pass thru the car wash because of the height. I have Koni's and Eibach and nearly took off the front sway bar the first time I was at the car wash.

Want to see mine with the seized right-front strut? That corner of the car is damn low.

Thanks bro. Yea, I will have to be super careful especially with the NY roads. But I plan on washing my car myself for the most part so hopefully won't have to worry about that.

I was sometimes scared with my 4th gen being so low on s-techs that I might do that at a carwash but to this day haven't done it yet. lol

Thanks by the way.

Good choice! You need the Koni Red strut inserts...What is your car riding on at the moment, Ricky?
