After watching Formula One

I decided to take my go-kart for a spin, i was scrubbing the tires at about 40mph and the rear end came out and it flipped on me... broken wrist, broken ankle, tons of road rash and stitches... looks like I won't be driving my max for awhile now, badtimes.

Thanks Brian No I know how to drive better than you'd think. That thing usually corners on rails, it's never reacted like that before, and i've pushed it way harder than that. That was the old motor in that picture. It now has a 8 horse Raptor it. Suprisingly no damage to that thing after the wipe out.

That sucks man. Think the pavement was dirty or something?

My friends have a few frames were going to put together. Several 5-8hp engines and 1 10hp....

nice fun kart. I'd get one of those, but no place to use it
EVERYone thinks they know how to drive, but it's amazing how few truly do (not intended in a judgmental way)

F1 is running Bahrain this weekend. Gonna give the go-cart another death-run? You've still got one good wrist and one good ankle...

Yeah Maxitech, I'm watching qualifying right now don't tempt me As far as weight goes on the kart I have no idea. You can pick it up no problem. With the engine pictured above we paced it at around 30. The Raptor engine I bought last summer isn't governed at all and turns around double the rpm of the older one. We paced it with a car around 50 before it floats the valves. Apparently you can get a cam kit with better springs ect. It's pretty fun. After talking to my step dad and friend who saw me wreck, the reason it flipped was because while sliding sideways the wheels caught on the edge of the neighbor's driveway and sent it over.

sorry about your injury. It does look like fun, but I think I would add a seat belt and some kind of roll protection.

get well soon

Weighs less than 100lb, 8 HP snow blower motor, has no brakes, extremely twitchy steering, has a high center of gravity, rear gear is about 3/4 inch off the ground so if you hit a patch of rough road or hit a rock the gear will catch and send you flying, throttle that has a tendency to get stuck wide open due to the cable being in the way of your foot(remember, no brakes)...First we clocked it at 32mph then gave it a wheel alignment and then clocked it at - get this - 55mph! That is scary fast on something I would describe as the most dangerous thing I've ever driven...one more pic:

Crappy pic, I know...and no, that is not me in the picture...that is the proud owner...

55mph top speed or 55mph and accelerating? i wanna build a 5hp but it's gonna be like 500lbs so i will probably want to get a way stronger engine for it

VG maxima has a 100HP/ton PWR. the little 5hp/500lb would have a 20HP/ton PWR... so, yeah. Geo Metro 3cyl has 55hp so it has a 60HP/ton ratio. So i'd have a third of the power of a Geo Metro 3cyl...

On the topic of F1, anyone catch qualifying at 7:00 am EST on Saturday morning? I woke up for it, but fell back asleep in about 10 mins...Let's see how long I can stay up for the actual race, which starts in a few hours at 7:00.

Here's a question: how come Massa can repeatedly get top pole position, but can never win a race and seldom even be in the top 3?

in qualifying the track is empty so no need to worry about hitting other cars.
in the race he's probably too conservative of a driver to win

I retract my previous statement...Massa won! Good job, Felipe...
I'm also happy that Alonso didn't get a podium finish.
