SubFrame Connector Interest Thread

Hey guys.... I know are cars are getting older and everyone doesn't want to dump alot of money into them....well at least not most people, but just wondering if anybody would be interested in a set of Subframe Connectors... Warpspeed used to make them and there were real POS's these guys seem to know what they are doing.... You can check them out here.. http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=518814 they already have group deals for the 4th and 5th Gen guys. I talked to Dan Truax over at Truaxmotorsports and he said if we could get 5-6 people in for a group deal he could make a set for us. We would be looking at around $265.00+ $35.00 for shipping. Let me know what you guys think the money would probably have to be up front... I'm gonna start a list and see if we can get this to happen.... This is just to see what the interest is once we get enough people we can send over the money and make this happen.

SFCs

Hello Guys and gals,

xMaxed90x is correct, we will take the time to prototype 3rd Gen SFCs if there is enough interest. My daughter has a 92 5 speed, so there is no problem with finding a car.
My Favorite call of all time was my old 93 SE Maxima. There were many a surprised look from other drivers when I blew past them. From 50 to over 100 WOW!! I had over 200,000 miles when I sold her. I just wish my 97 was as nice.
Once we get around 10 guys interested I will borrow Kati's car and "Get her done". Sean says they are a tad bit easier than the 4th and 5th gen, so we might be able to offer them for a bit less, but no promises yet.

I was thinking about the warpspeed SFc's before. Matt said he was happy with them. What made them POS's? I wasn't aware that they stopped making them either.

anyway sign me up for a set of these puppies.

INTEREST THREAD ONLY....

i usually don't allow GD posts in the main sections but this would be an interest thread. let's keep the OT chatter to a min.

Dan when you see enough interest please open the GD thread in the GD section.
Thanks!

what, exactly, does the SFC accomplish?

Increase frame rigidity?

Help the exhaust in some way?

fill me in?

sfcs review

ustfdes Check out this install review thread

http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....sfc+sfcs+truax

I know there are a few guys with sfcs that were previously made that are on 3rd Gen cars. The difference most people feel is huge. If we get 10 + guys interested I will pull Katie's car in the shop and turn Mike and Sean loose. We will likely be doing the 6th Gen first though. They are quite a few interested. Once the boys have a prototype and jig, we will open a group buy similar to the group buys for the 4th and 5th Gen. See the group buy section.

Well 2 people interested so far that is not a bad start. From what I've heard those who have had the Warspeed ones on their 3rd Gens have felt huge improvements in the cars handling and overall stability and control.

I actually had a set of the WSP's a few years ago, but ended up selling them due to ground clearance issues. They used round tubing rather than the boxed setup it looks like these are. These look a bit more slim and I'd be more than down if ground clearance can be maximized.

It's not like you work on them

Back to the SFC!

I'm just wondering about the bracket pieces where they bolt together. It looks like thay can flew because they are just flat metal, I donno if that matters.

Other question, how much does the set up weigh?

I believe they were saying around 50 pounds all 2gether which shouldn't be 2 bad clearance is definatly an issue though I scrape all the time as it is!

The SFCs for the 4th and 5th Gen Maximas are approx. 40 lbs. I believe these will be very close. If we make a set we will post photos and also how much they weigh.
Structurally the sets for then 4th and 5th Gen are much stronger than the ones previously made, plus they fit very tightly against the bottom of the car, and can be sem welded for added strength. The cross bracing system we use is very light yet strong.
Please remember, the SFCs we are talking about do not exist yet for the 3rd Gen. However, Sean and Mike assure me that making up a prototype will not be difficult. All we need is enough interest to make it worth our time. We are looking for 10 guys or gals to have their name added to the list. This is not a list to buy but a list to guage interest
James92SE, how did you like they way your car felt with the SFCs you had? I know Matt Blehm loved his. Not sure if he has them on his car yet. We think this mod is the best bang for your buck suspension modification.

I'm definitely willing to buy a set of SFC's... I've been wanting SFC's so badly that I've even considered making my own set. This is awesome!

MyGreenMax94, there is no way as of now I can quote prices, but it is a safe be that they will be more than $80. We have a small business so not a lot of overhead and I can promise we will try to make them as affortable as we can.

if i couldn't weld, or get steel for cheap, i would most likely be interested.....but i plan on fabricating my own SFC's and stiffening the chassis in other ways as well.

sorry guys, good luck.

I forgot to clarify that I sold them before I put them on the car. I saw how thick they were and knew they'd hang down from the bottom of the car quite a bit.

I did ride in Matt's car a few years ago and it handled like it was on rails. Although, he did have a TON more than just the SFCs, but I'm sure those helped some

if the price is right, I'll take a set as well. I'm thinking around $200 MAX though...since it'll be made up of some welds and steel bars. How much does a SFC usually run for anyways??

Dan, is the price closer to $80 or $265? What material is going to be used (ie mild steel or stainless)

We will be using 11 guage 1 X 2 inch steel, This is a very strong yet fairly light combination and some type of crossbrace similar to the others we make. We have kicked around the idea of using 1/2" X 1" steel for the small x brace. Much will depend on clearence. They won't be $80. Untill we have them made, all pricing is just a guess. I will promise to continue to make a quality product, for a reasonable price.
Keep the thread going.

I think I could conjure up the cash if it is at a reasonable price (Below $200) And ground clearance was not a concern.

I would be interested in a few months as my new job situation stabilizes. I wonder how much lower these would make the ground clearance, more than Eibach/Konis.

Anyone know? How much of a ground clearance issue does this add? 1", 2", 1/2"?

Wow 9 people that didn't take 2 long to put 2gether, it just seems the common concern is clearance... Dan do you know much clearnance was lost on the 4th Gen Kits...?

Hello Guys,
I know the amount of clearence lost is not much on the 4th and 5th Gen cars. I am going to send an email to my daughter to see when she can drop off her car or check with my friend who has a 3rd gen car.
Sean is the guy who does the prototyping. He just about has the 2jz running in my 87 Supra. We are thinking we should have between 550 and 600 h/p. Trying to fine the fine line of getting more prototyping done and getting my road beast up and running. I love to find a GT Mustang to pick on.
Back to your questions. Sean and I have looked under Kati's car before, we will likley be using the 1" X 2" tubing. The more we can keep the same, the easier it is for us to quickly get the products out to you. We will keep you posted. I will start a new group buy thread when we are set. No promises as to how long, but once Sean gets on it, we should be able to take orders with in a week. Hope this helps.
