why??
is your car not running?
is it falling apart?
if it's not broken why fix it?
unless your replacing w/ a new car...then make sure your cool w/ paying out a few hundred for car and insurance.

The Altima and G20 have no relation whatsoever. The G20 is US' version of the European Primera. It's about the size of a BMW 3series, Lexus IS300, etc. Uses the SR20DE 2.0 L engine.

G20?

Well it's based on the Sentra. You'll love the stock handling over the Maxima, but you'll wish for the stock power of the Maxima over the G20. You can make the Max handle damn well with your usual suspension upgrades. I'm sure there are handling upgrades for the G20...as for power...maybe a turbo? Those Sentra would know.

ummm...the max is not as big as the Q45. that thing is in a class of it's own.
the altima is also in a class of it's own.

the G20 = Sentra
the I30 = Maxima
the QX4 = Pathfinder

Q45 has a massive V-8, and alot more luxurious features, and also is quite abit bigger than a max. The Q45 is more like a Cadillac. The Maxima is more like a Maxima. There's nothing to really compare a max to because it makes the class that it is in.
haha

hrmm all this information is confusing...and, there is nothing wrong with the maxima, everything is fine. I just want a new car, my parnets will keep the max. the g20t looks really small..but i dont know if it'll matter..i really like the spaciousness of the maxima.

Uhhh, NO!!
the Q45 is a rear-wheel-drive with a massive V8. the interior is NOTHING like a maxima. much larger and luxurious. this car makes a maxima look like a base model Tercel.

let's try all this again..

Maxima= I30
Sentra= G20
Pathfinder= QX4
no other models match. the infinity J30 is between the Max and Q45.. nicer than max, not as nice as q45.

No no. The G20 is NOT the Sentra

They use the same engine, but it's a totally different car. The G20 is a Primera.

Geez...

never said they were the same car...obviously the names are different. They just use the same platform.

Let's try it again:

G20 = Sentra
I30 = Maxima
QX4 = Pathfinder

J30 = based on the Z?
M30 = based on the Stanza?

Feel free to correct me...if I'm wrong.

Arrrgh!

The J30 has/had the same engine as the N/A 300ZX, and was RWD, but was not the same platform.

The Nissan Sentra is an entry-level compact car.

The Infiniti G20 is an entry-level luxury compact (BMW 3series, Volvo S40, Audi A4). It is the same car as the Nissan Primera found in Europe and Japan.

but i though we're talking about US Nissans and Inifnitys.
we can't get the Primera in the states ya know. so let's rule that out.
the verdict is still the G20 = Sentra.
i'm not talking about the "luxury" part of it. i can always get leather in a Sentra, Nav, power everything..but underneath all that it's still a sentra.

Since we can't get the Primera, why does the G20 automatically equal the Sentra?

ok let me clear something up here...
yes the G20 IS the Primera but rebadged for the euro and japanese markets.
Infinity used the Sentra platform us create the G20 and the Primera.
the Primera is about the same trim line..(luxury) as the G20.
the Sunny is the equv of the sentra here in terms of features in the car.
but i think* the sunny is also w/ the sentra platform.
so basically u have 2 cars here and 2 cars over seas that share the same platform.
all 4 cars are made (maybe not sunny) on the same platform. the G20 and the Primera are better equiped compared to the sunny and the sentra.
the lower version of the sentra are powered by the GA motor and the G20 are powered by the SR motor. i believe the sunny is also the GA motor..(not 100% sure) and the Primera is the SR motor also? (also not 100% sure).
let me also add that the Infinity badge is a US only market i believe.
Dan

Re: No no. The G20 is NOT the Sentra

umm the G20 is technicly a sentra. same chassis, same frame, same suspension setup, same motor (sr20se), same interior specs, wheel base etc.

A G20 is more or less a sentra with leather.....

Man you guys should do some research...

Does any body play Gran Turismo 1 or 2?Have you heard of the British Touring Car Championship? That'a where Nissan Primera's Race and alot of the time kick Accord,Countour(Mondeo),and Audi Butt,and Volvo and Vauxhall's too.A Nissan Primera is a Sporty Sedan in Japan. Over here it's called a G20 (Wifey jus' got one, 95 G20t) In Japan they come w/ Turbo here they come same engine, no turbo which really sucks, this little thing has potential,But My Max is still way more comfortable,and has way more Power too.
G20 perfect for women,Maxima perfect for MEN!

Currently the Maxima the same as the I30, in the future, they are going to build a bigger Max on the new Q45 platform. The Altima will move up and assume the market position that he Max now fills, at least that is what I have been hearing through the grape vine.

arrg, after sitting in a G20, and Sentra, and Altma, I REALLY appreciate my maxima...I like the big car...small cars just don't cut it..I'm going to look again..$25,000 for a new G20t is appealing though, too bad it's so small. Are there any other nice cars you recc?

a WHOLE lot different. haha
Better ride quality, more power. The car got a whole makeover. I would take a 5th gen over any other gen. The new Anniversary edition is awesome but i don't really like the blue. Go test drive a 01 max. Their's quite abit of difference.

2001 max is not much different than a 2000 max.. only 5 extra horses. The 2001 AE max has different appearance accents.
