RSB or RSTB

an aftermarket RSB makes a noticeable difference. currently Suspension Techniques makes front and rear for 3rd gens. you have to buy the set ~200+. check out http://www.shox.com
i have an Addco RSB on mine which i bought from Cattman Performance. i think he discontinued selling them.
as far as RSTB, i don't think anyone makes one for our cars.

Do you have a picture of yours? The RSB on our stock Maximas are weak. I can bend mine (it has play). How much thicker are the aftermarket ones? Tell me your impressions if you would. Easy to install?

You can also buy the suspension techniques rear sway bar only.. I recommend buying the set, but you can buy the rear only.
noone makes a rear strut tower brace because the way our car is disigned, it does not need one. the rear deck on our cars IS the rear strut tower brace.

as you can see the addco rsb is way thicker than the stock one. much harder to bend. the install was not too difficult. i wrote up some instructions as i went along since the ones that came with the rsb were lacking.
i also have the FSTB. i notice a difference when in taking curves. the car doesn't feel as floaty, feels "flatter" bodywise. i have driven without any RSB on. the RSB does make a difference in terms of handling. aftermarket more so.
one word of caution. i had to replace the stock brackets that the RSB hangers are bolted to with thicker ones. the stock ones are too thin and the bolts sheared off mine.
hope this helps

Set? What do you mean by set? When I lay into a turn hard, I know the rear sways over more than I want it to. The RSB prevents this right? How about just getting a different bar back there and no "set"? The one I have is a little flimsy.
BTW, for purposes of my knowledge and website comparison, do the GXE's have a smaller rear sway bar? How about a front sway bar? Is it smaller too? Just wondering.
Also Matt, if you have time, take a look at my comparison page to see if I left anything out. Peace

Yes, both GXE and SE models have front and rear sway bars.. suspension techniques makes a front and rear set, which goes for about $225+ shipping. I don't think there is a difference between SE and GXE bars though.
I installed the rear bar first on my car, and I didn't notice much difference.. it helped, but not a lot. when I switched the front bar to the ST bar, it made a HUGE difference in handling.
the stock rear bar and the ST rear bar aren't much different in size, but in function, they're quite a bit different.
here's a few shots of them side by side.. forgot I had these on my webpage.
here's the front: the ST bar (top) is the same physical size as the OEM bar, but it's a solid bar.. the stock one is hollow metal. the difference in weight is huge. ~8lb for stock bar, ~40lb for the ST bar.

rear: you can see the ST bar (top) is visibly larger, but not a lot. it's also much stronger than the OEM bar.

If you look at the part #s, you'll notice it's the same as the FSTB... I dunno whether that means it's a typo and it shouldn't be there, or whether it will fit on the rear also, BUT you don't need a RSTB. the strut towers are an integral part of the rear deck and sheetmetal. go ahead and spend $70 if you want to, but don't come back and whine when you don't see any difference.

Is this true about the RSTB or have things changed?

HOLY **** OLD SKOOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hahahahaahaha
At first I thought Matt and Randy were playing a Joke, then I haven't seen Andy post forever.
Is the search working again? lol
Things have changed with the RSTB, Matt decided to make one and there is a difference.

Just to add, I put on Shadow's old RSTB (thanks man). I had to weld on another set of nuts on the end but there is a noticable amount of difference. Bigger than the FSTB I'll say. I run Eibachs/Konis/ST SB/ADDCO RSB/FTSB and then added the RSTB. The rear is much more planted now. Nice mod
