Subframe Removal

Has anyone here ever removed their subframe?

I ask this because my stock swaybar somehow broke its mounting bracket, which twisted the bracket and damaged the bolt holding the bracket on (towards the front, there's a stud in back). I had to use a hammer to bend the bracket back enough to get a ratchet on the bolt head and eventually got it out. However, the subframe has been pushed in somewhat (not from the hammering) - I'd estimate about 1/4" or so.

The problem is that the threads on the subframe are damaged, and the bolt hole is slightly angled from being deformed when the mount broke. I tried to use a slightly larger bolt and carefully twist it in, but it's no good.

I figure at this point I have a few options. I was thinking about possibly having the sway bar bracket welded to the subframe, although I'd prefer not to go that route. I could try to tap new threads, but I'm unsure of trying this due to how damaged the threads look. I believe there is a nut welded on the top of the subframe which the bolt is supposed to thread though, and it's pretty damaged. My other option would be to remove the subframe, cut off the nut, and have a new one welded on.

I'd like to get some opinions before proceeding on this one. What do you guys think I should do?

You can't remove a subframe... It's a a bunch of thin metal panels are spot welded together. What you can do is repair the threads. I know most parts stores sell a thread repair Kit for specific bolts. It involves drilling out the bad thread, cutting new ones with the provide tool in the kit and screwing new threads in place. Then use your old bolt, unless that too is damaged which you would need to replace that.

EDIT: I read it again, sounds like you need to replace some metal and a nut to screw into like you said. I can't tell for sure without a pic.

Hey guys I'm sorry I incorrectly was calling the part the subframe. Actually it is like a metal plate attached below the gusset. I should probably be searching for gusset removal. Either way, hopefully you guys can toss me some more ideas.

Also I took some pics but am having trouble uploading them at the moment. I'll try to sort that out quickly.
