Coolant issues

Ok so i have a coolant leak. It use to leak from the heater core which i bypassed (I live in Florida, dont need heat). Now its leaking from this part that i dont know what its called. Maybe if i describe it. Its attached to the firewall right near the heater core outlets. It use to be connected by hose to the heater core (before i bypassed it). And it has vaccuum hoses conected to and it has a butterfly valve inside to restrict coolant flow. (Wish i had pics).

My question is: can i also bypass this part like i did with the heater core?

It must be the heater valve. You can bypass it.

Yes that's the water flow valve for the heater. Just bypass it, since you're not using the heater it's superfluous.
