#3
1. Lug wrench(doh)/good quality jack/w jack stands
2. 14mm socket for caliper bolts (with rachet of course, doh)
3. 19mm socket (preferably 1/2" drive) for the caliper bracket
4. Pair of needle nose pliers come in handy, but not necessary.
4. Hammer(rotor may be seized on to the hub)
5. Large C Clamp to retract the caliper piston for new pads..
6. Brake parts grease for the slide pins/pad shims
7.Brake parts cleaner to remove the anti-rust film from the new rotors.
8. 10mm wrench or deep well socket for the bleeder screw..

You're supposed to put grease on the shims??
Also, I didn't touch the grease in the slide pins. It looked ok to me, wet and well...greasy.
How important is it to get the runout of new rotors? I just put them on (cleaned them first of course).
I didn't get a chance to bleed the system because I ran out of time. I will do that though.
Everything feels good. Definitely an improvement over the worn out pads and rotors I was driving on.
One question: the boots on both caliper pistons had slight tears. Is this a big problem? It looked like there was rust inside the piston.

I think if you don’t apply some grease then you get noise during light braking because there is room for the pad to vibrate/grind a bit. I may be wrong here, but that was the explanation I was given a while ago.

Thanks for the speedy replies, should be a piece of cake. I called an auto wrecker just to get a price on used rotors just to save some $$ and was asked what the build date was. He said that there were 2 styles depending on what the date was. I told him that mine was built on 4/91 and he said that he did not have them for that year. The auto parts stores never asked me this. ????

Front rotors are the same on these cars from 1989 third gens up to about 2000 model 5th gens..
Besides that,do not replace used with used when it comes to brake rotors,99% of all rotors in junkyards are rusted beyond repair...

I just did my brakes. I was wondering why they squeek.. What are the slide pins/pad shims?

Now I must clarify something. When I was on the search for a bracket at the JY, I noticed that the 14mm bolts that go on the guide pins on 92-94s are really a 12mm on 89-91. Am I wrong here or have any of you noticed?
