Any Computer Chips Or Mods That Work

I was curious when I saw an add for a mod. They wanted me to send in my computer and they would return it the next day with performance in mind. Is there any chips or mods that really work to increase power. I saw some crap on ebay that was just a resister. Maybe I will build a CAI and get some headers and low restriction muffler instead. Any ideas?

That would be a good idea.

The best performance modification "bang for you buck" for these cars is a warpspeed y-pipe(about 10 ponies for $200)

Second would be an underdrive pully from unorthadox.

If you really have a butt load of money to spend, then a ecu upgrade from JWT would be in order, but very expensive(around $600)

Open mufflers/CAI's do very little performance wise, they do however make a car "sound" faster..

I have it,the most noticable difference in pick-up and you have to use premium-unleaded(JWT ecu)

I prefered the UDP to the y-pipe & UDP on my old VE A/T.

I've been interested in the JWT ECU for a while. Can you tell us what gains (low/high) and rpms ranges the JWT increases compare to stock?

I had a boatload of other mods done to my car before I did the y-pipe (actually the y-pipe was the second to last performance mod I did, the last being ECU tuning) but I noticed some really nice gains with the y-pipe.

I didn't notice too much with the UDP (which I installed before the y-pipe), Probably because I already had a Fidanza which eliminates a lot more mass.

When I installed the y-pipe I started losing traction by simply rolling on the gas. After I installed the UDP it just seemed like it revved slightly easier/faster, but... well I suppose I was expecting results more along the lines of what I saw from my Fidanza but lets face it the UDP has half the weight difference and half the diameter of the Fidanza so I was over-optimistic.

For simplicity's sake I would focus on the ECU last. The Fidanza is by far my favorite mod, followed by the y-pipe, then UDP.

As for intakes I've played with them all. From as simple as hacking up the factory air box, to running both the factory mid pipe with and without the resonator and custom mid-pipe in both pop-charger (both MAF adapter + filter and the JWT/Stillen cone) and CAI setups. There are differences but meh. My personal favorite was the Jeffy-Shawn CAI but it's almost obnoxiously loud at WOT

Oh, biggest surprise would be the ground kit Jeff and I made. I didn't expect anything from it but it improved the midrange on my car like you wouldn't believe. Definitely double up your grounds at some point. The sooner the better.

Have all mods above. Would like to know what gains and impressions of/on the JWT ECU upgrade. This will likely be my last mod.

Jwt Ecu

I just installed a JWT ECU on my car. I got lucky when i was searching ebay and bought it for 100 bucks, though I was kinda scared thinking it wouldn't work or something, but for 100 buck I took the risk. The most of the gains I felt were on acceleration. It feels like it takes off a bit quicker, or it's just all in my head...

I've heard from 505max that the JWT ECU doesn't pay attention to knock though... So it's kinda risky in that department

If you still want to sell it I can always use another.

PM matt93se when you have more posts. He just rebuilt his VE (the 92-94 SE's engine aka VE30DE or VE) and knows what to do and what not to. Other wise just use the free search and there should be plenty of info.

But you can use VG30DE pistons and rods. But if its just a mild rebuild some 10.5:1 pistons will help a little. Other wise you'll need custom pistons $$.

Glad to hear that, as I have rebuilt multiple VE motors and tis definitely not the cheapest motor to rebuild and difinitely not something you would want to start to learn on.
