The Ultimate n00b Question
The Ultimate n00b Question
This week I purchased a 1994 Nissan Maxima GXE. It's Dark Emerald and it's in great shape! Every feature works and the interior/exterior are beautiful.
My background is 300ZX's (z31's) with the same VG30 engine that resides in my Maxima. This will be the third VG30 in my driveway.
Anyway, my question is simple - are there really no cup holders at all in this car? This wouldn't matter if I didn't drive it every day, but I do!
That is all!

for one but they have been selling for way to much on eBay. How much u want shipped to 63376, Saint Peters MO
LOL. Thanks for all the great tips guys, most informative
How well do those Taurus cup holders fit? Pretty good? If you don't sell them elsewhere and they fit good I would be interested.
Failing that I'll check out the cup holders from the 4th gens as suggested!
I'm really not too worried about me. The e-brake method has been working pretty good for my lidded coffee cup in the morning, but it's the WIFE I'm worried about. She is nitorious for setting her open beverages anywhere. She even sets lidded cups on there sides on the seat when the lids don't always hold so good. Cup holders would be a great safety measure for my new Max.
I'm really loving this car so far, it's been nothing but great...except I got a speeding ticket yesterday in it

Nissan did a really poor job designing the cupholder on this car. There actually is one, but it's so badly designed it might as well not be.
If you open the glove box and let the door hang open, there is a little circular lip to set your drink on there. Now, not only will this NOT hold a drink when put under any sort of stress (bumps, turns, braking, accelerating), but the contents of the glove compartment tend not to stay in with the door open. Imagine that!
So yes, technically we have one, but....

BTW those are only on 92 up 3rd gens. The earlier ones just had a door that opened for storage.
I am going to have to second the "buy something with a lid and set it by the e-brake" suggestion. I usually get Gatorade or a 20oz pop with a screw on lid.
IMO, any cupholder right there in front of the HU is just asking for the driver to slam on the brakes and throw liquid all over the HU.

Also if you want to change CD's you have to take the drink out. And with the stock nissan cup holder you can only fit one decent size drink and one tiny one.
FWIW I kinda like my nissan cup holder. I got it out of a 93 gxe. Funny thing is I've only ever seen them in 93 gxes and even then very rarely. I'm still going to put in the tarus holder I have laying under the the passenger seat...
