My left front boot has torn and it looks like my axle threw up grease all over my wheel and brakes. How much should it cost to fix this, including if my CV joint is damaged? Should I go ahead and replace my other boots as well?

Thanks.

if you're doing it yourself, it'll cost anywhere form $20 to $150 per axle.

if it's the outside boot, you should replace both boots, as you have to take the inside joint of the axle apart in order to get the outer boot off and on.

IF you're paying a shop to do it, expect about $120 per axle in labor, plus parts. if they put in a rebuilt axle, expect to spend about $100-150 each for the parts.

If you can afford to get both axles done at the same time, it's highly recommended.
1. you have to drain tranny fluid in order to remove the axle..
2. if one boot is bad, the others will likely go soon. both my outer boots died within 2 weeks of each other.
3. it's only one trip to the mechanic instead of 2. labor charges will likely be lower too, as you don't have to repeat a bunch of stuff.

Thanks Matt, I am debating whether I have enough money to do both sides, but I did find a place to do it for $110.
