More Manifold Probs??
Here's how I ran the crossover... right into the front collector between Cyl. 4 & 6. Basically its just a piece of a Mandrel U bend, but I have a lot more work to do on it. I think I am going to cut up another piece and weld it right over the top because the mandrel bender causes the metal on the outside of the bend to be thin.
I couldn't find mandrel bent pipe thicker than 14 ga. Its pretty thick stuff. If I was to really do it right, the only thing from the manifold I would be using is the flanges and I would get the cast iron piping that you weld together. It would last a lot longer/permanently. As I have it set up right now it may be pretty susceptible to cracking. I cut the mandrel bend a little short so there is about 1/4 inch of weld closing the gap right at the tip of the pipe so that is what I want to reinforce. Also when I was cleaning up the area with the grinder I think I ground that area of the pipe too thin to withstand all the heat. I really want to get this done by the end of Aug. so I can focus on school, and maybe I will redo it later with better quality(or if it becomes worth marketing).
