my wheels on my 92 maxima are showings signs of wear. the clear coat is coming off. any directions on how to bring them back to life.

that's a usual problem. probably the only way to revive them is to get them refinished which is $$$

The straightforward approach

Sand, paint, clearcoat.

I don't know if you want the original silver color, but obviously you can stray and go with white, black, or whatever.

If you do it yourself, there are wheel paints out there, but they may ask you to wait inconvenient amounts of time before another coat or clearcoating. A trip to an automotive supply store (Pep Boys, Strauss, etc) will at least let you find some options that aer out there. The other option is to go to a paint/body shop, but it gets expensive.

Another alternative is to hold out for a cheap set of used rims from another 3rd, 4th or 5th gen and bolt 'em on. It may be less of a headache to go that route. the 15" 7spokes on the 4th gens might be the easiest to come bye. There are also some "honeycomb" ones on some 4th gen GLEs out there.
I've seen 3rd gen wheels on ebay quite a bit. Also, some earlier Z cars used the same rims I think
