has anyone heard of swapping a 300 ztt radiator cap with out cap, i heard it has something that doest build up as much pressure and makes the car run cooler, freeing up some extra horses, has anyone heard of this?

Hmm... don't see any reason to mess with it. I would THINK that the 300Z TT would have a higher pressure cooling system than the Maxima because it deals with more heat. (Turbos) The increased pressure helps to prevent boiling...

they give you the right cap for the car for a reason. if the 300zx one worked better with our car, nissan would have put it on there.

go look back at your high school chem notes (if you guys have take it yet) you will find your anwer in a simple 5 variable equasion.

many components from the 300z were never used across the board because of the high(er) cost associated with making them. ie why put at $5 part on when you can get a way with a $2 part?

"A radiator cap from a TTZ car is a good, low buck upgrade for the cooling system of any 89 and up Nissan. If features 18psi max blow-off pressure, allowing more pressurization of the coolant. This makes an engine less likely to verheat by raising the coolant's boiling point"

Pretty much as Brian mentioned, later.

Has anyone actually overheated their car from driving too hard?

Has anyone actually overheated their car from driving too hard? Maybe I'm just afraid to rag on my car too much because of the auto... but I've NEVER seen my car get hot (with the exception of that time when I didn't put quite enough coolant in... DOH!!)

I have a greddy radiator cap...

I basically bought it because it looks good, but it also raises the pressure to 18.5 psi as well. I haven't noticed any power gains though.
