I recently purchased a generic power antenna to replace the stock one. When I compared the stock antenna and the generic there seemed to be some major differences in what was there. Including a part that my book referred to as the "timer" and the mounting device. Being the creative sort I replace the stock antenna and motor with the new ones so that the mounting device and timer were still part of the assembly of the car. However when reassembling the car there was no reaction from the antenna. I tested the power to the antenna and it is getting juice. The next day I took it into the shop to see if they somehow could catch what I had missed. After 3 hours of fiddling with the antenna, the wiring, disassembling my stereo installation, etc... they decided that they had no clue what was wrong. They did notice however that when they "jiggle" the timer that the new antenna will go up. However, it has no problems coming down when the car turns off w/o needing to jiggle the timer. Is the timer an essential part of the antenna system or is it just conflicting with the new parts? Thanks for any help someone can give me... :-)
