I'm watching Cops right now, and there were some guys that were stealing systems out of people's cars in an apartment complex, and when they went and tried to get a Maxima after they'd gotten several other cars, the stock alarm went off and scared the guys and they tried to take off but the cops caught them leaving and arrested them.. I'm glad to know that the stock alarm works okay, but I'm still gonna get an aftermarket one to protect my system soon...

those guys must not have been too professional. the stock alarm really isn't worth too much anymore. i would suggest everyone to install and aftermarket system if possible.

those guys were idiots. Get an aftermarket if you really wanna feel safe. At least get one where it is hooked up to your windows...(if they bump your windows hard enough the alarm goes off). With the stock all they gotta do is break the window and hop through and they are good to go.

MY $0.02 worth

No such thing as a "safe" alarm. However, there IS such a thing as preventative measures. In that, I'll agree with Sarah and Chris - buy an aftermarket system. Something that will protect as many entry points as possible. I read something in a recent issue of a magazine that addressed this issue. In a nutshell, the answer basically said that OEM systems are set up to protect the doors, hood, and maybe even the trunk. An effective system will protect those points, as well as glass breakage, motion sensing, ignition kill and/or fuel cutoff.

But I've seen the most sophisticated systems "jacked" by a determined thief, so that's why I started by saying that there's no "safe" alarm.

But did you guys/gals notice that it took a Max, for the punks to get caught??? What a bunch of fargin ijits, to think they could steal Nissan's flagship (and the reason we're here in the first place!!!
