I know someone looking to sell a 92 SE fro $2000, but he says that the anti-lock break cylinder is leaking. Does the 92 have anti-lock breaks? If so, any ideas how much it would cost to replace/repair the cylinder?

Does he mean the "master cylinder" or the ABS module thingy on the left side of the engine with all the brake lines coming out of it everywhere?

I shouldn't [i]imagine[/] either would be hugely expensive to replace using a rebuilt master cylinder or a junkyard ABS module - even if you get someone to change them out for you.

From what he described, it's the abs module. He said he got a price quote from a junk yard for $400. Supposedly it's a $1000 part from the dealer. I'm going to do some quick checking around to see what kind of prices I can get it for.

I know a few guys that have had their abs module replaced by a private mechanic (that they personally knew, so prices were cheap). but it cost him $800.

and not ALL 92SEs had ABS... but that's not that big of a deal. just see what you can find.

Thanks for the info. One last question. Can the abs be disabled and not cause any problems? Not really a big fan of abs anyway!
