Dude, carfax is FREE. But I tried it for ya, just for spits and giggles. This is what they told me:

The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) you entered, JN1EJ001F5PT41401, is invalid. Please check the number for accuracy and try again

Carfax is not free. For free, they will tell you how many records are on your car. To see them, you have to pay. Bait and switch at its finest.

Wrong VIN

I typed in JN1EJ01F5PT414019 and it worked. Since there are never any letter O's in a VIN, I just changed it to a zero and it brought up a 93 Maxima. Sorry, but my account expired a week ago. So, I was not able to pull up the entire report. It just said that it found 5 history records. That just means that the car was "inspected" 5 times or "registered" 5 times....or it could mean that your car has a bad history of like, "odometer fraud", "flood damage", "salvaged", or something else. So, I would find someone that still has an account active to see if this car checks out OK. Sorry, I couldn't help further.

I ran carfax on it. It looks great. The last entry shows that it had 74,000 miles on it in July of 1999. So you can look at the current mileage to see how much it has been driven over the last 2 years.

Be very careful not to take CARFAX reports as the absolute complete history of your car. Sometimes, title transfers do not show up for one reason or another. Ask to see the original title before you buy!
