Get it rebuilt.......

and have them add on an auxiliary trans cooler and also ask if they will install a Trans-GO shift kit as well(it will improve and lenghtne trans life)....a normal rebuild should cost anywhere around $1500-2500...mine was $2000 about 1.5 years ago.

as for putting it in yourself, unless your VERY EXPERIENCED, I would leave it to the pros!

ty. I'm going to have it rebuilt.

I bought a 1980 F150 4x4 with a plow in the interim. Yes, it's the 351m.
/me rubs hands waiting for winter.

Thanks again

Man, talk about opposite ends of the spectrum... I could only see this being more different if you had like a supercharged Mini and the Ford Where do you live that you need a plow?

I'm in Massachusetts..

Yeah, it sure is opposite ends of the spectrum! I am doing it for the versatility and the price. It'll be nice to have a truck on hand.

Rebuild dat bad boy!

Trust me, you wanna rebuild it, my uncle's a mechanic, and he says there is NO such thing as a new tranny for our cars, but WHATEVER you do, dont take it to Mr Transmission , or you'll know what it feels like to have a broom shoved up your a$$, because thats the first time I've EVER been fu@$&@! (not pretty)

that doesn't sound like a pretty sight!!

yeah I heard the Nissan trannies aren't "new" either only rebuilt, but I think they do "spice" in up a little with Raybestos(Green) bands and all the other high quality parts(clutches, bands, servos, etc.)....but still for $3400, I could go to Level 10 and have them build me Stage 3 trans capable of holding 600hp!!
