I am writing hoping to help out a friend who owns a 1994 Nissan Quest, with the VG30E engine.

He's got starting problems. On mornings, it doesn't crank up right away. He has to pump the pedal and the car struggles to start. Once it has been driven, there are no starting problems afterwards, only in the morning. I am thinking this is definitely a fuel system problem, even though we've tuned up the car, including a new fuel filter and air filter. Any other ideas why it is having trouble starting? Fuel pump? Injectors? It idles fine.

Next problem is the CHECK ENGINE light. It comes on intermittently but this time, it is staying on. Other than the O2 sensor, what else can trigger that light to come on?

Last problem is that sometimes, when he starts up, everything get resetted, including the clock and the tuned radio stations. Is there somethig wrong with the ECU or the fusible links? Maybe this is related to the CHECK ENGINE light coming on?

I appreciate any help anyone can offer. Thanks.

The quest might have the same prob as a Mercury Villager.. I know it has the Nissan engine and probably a lot ofo ther nissan parts.. anyway the fuel pump and fuse that goes back there was really f-ed up on a 94 Villager

So check that I guess
