Questions on How to replace the Engine

Hi everyone
I got this great deal on the 90 maxima. But now the engine blew.I would like to replace the engine myself( maybe get a used engine from junk yard )
My questions are
1) How many hours are required?
2) Any precautions?
3) Any special tools needed?
4) Is it easier to remove the transmission out of the way first?
Thanks a lot!!!

Well I've done engine and tranny work so I can answer.

Time: greatly depends on how good you are. Either way, you should start on Fri and not expect to be done until Sun night.
Precautions: Yeah don't let the car, engine or tranny fall on your head.
Tools, no special tools perse, but you will need a pretty good set of tools. If not, forget it.
I took the tranny out first becuase the engine/tranny together weighs too damn much and is very ackward to work with as one unit.

If you have never done any work like this before, either just hire a good mechanic or just assist a good mechanic(if he's a buddy) if you can. You will learn alot and the mechanic will get you through the hard parts. Replacing engines/trannys is a two man(min) job anyway.
