Indiglo gauge installed! Pics and a video

alright guys, here are the pics, like I promised. I got the indiglo gauge friday and got it installed saturday. It's not that easy to install. I had to take almost everything off around the gauge inorder to get to it, that includes the center console, the plastic piece holding the fog/defroster/mirror switches, the plastic piece around the steering column where the sigal/windshield wiper switches are, the bottom piece where the cover for the fuses is and then finally the piece that holds the vents and the clock which is in front of the gauge. Putting the indiglo gauge on took no more than 15 mins. Don't take out the 4 green bulbs that used to light up the stock gauge because you'll need these bulbs to light up the needles and the odometer! Keep them in, it's worth it, because when you dim the indiglo, the orange needles look hot! (to me at least)

I took some pictures with a quickcam, so the quality isn't so great, sorry guys, can't afford a digicam! But with the power of my quickcam, i capture a video for those who isn't convinced by the pictures. But the video is 3.57 megs! and it's only 20 secs, sorry dial up forks!

do your gauges hum? indiglos are notorious for that!

it hums, but it's only noticable when you turn it allllll the way to the max. By that time u won't be able to see the road because u'll have blue glare all ova ur eyes . It's really bright when u turn it to the max. It's not safe to turn it high on highways because it's ridiculously bright, so bright it distracts your driving. You won't hear the hums if you have the light at a moderate level and if you have the stereo on. For some reason, the green light doesn't hum as much...

Is that the same ones that was on Ebay? I tried to bid on those, but because I don't have any feedback, they cancelled my bid. But I contacted the guy directly and he's gonna let me buy them from him. But I'm getting the 145mph ones. I'll get some pics, too, once I get mine, which should be next week.

When you put your indiglos in did you have to take of your needles and if you did, Did you have to have them recalibrated or did they work just fine?

the instruction from Initial said that needles DON'T have to be removed. Just bend the indiglo a lil to slip it in. Watch out for the needle tho, have a pair of steady hands because one little move will break the needle. Bend the indiglo, don't try to bend the needle!

How long did it take for you to get everythiing out and back on? I want to try and time when i start workin on it so that it will be kinda dim outside when i'm finished. I'm at school and i don't have a garage so i have to have it done in a day. THanx in advance and do you have any advice on where to put the switch or anything for that matter?

it depends on how long it takes you to take the dash apart and get the gauge cluster out. installing the indiglos themselves and doing the wiring only takes maybe 30 minutes.

i got them from the guy just about the first night he had them up for sale. came very quickly. maybe he ran out of his supply and was to stupid to let people know. anyway, i like them a lot, but n34jz, i'd have to say that if i had white gauges in the first place and saw that pic i'd definately have to do that in blue. that looks hot. and also, they hum but dont' really notice it anyway, esp. with radio on. and i keep them bright blue all the time, i don't get distracted.

Everything?

Did everyone else have to take everything around the cluster off also? the center piece, steering column, etc. Could some tell me how long it took them? the whole process. can i change the green lights while i'm in there?

ok, you need to take off the dash piece in front of the gauges with the left three air vents and clock obviously, but to do that you need to take off, 1) take off the piece around the shift **** to take off the piece around the cd deck and ac controller. also remove 2 screws. i behind the trash thing, and one that over the cig klighter. also, you have to take out the piece with around the steering wheel at the top with the 4 switched, 2 on each side, it's the cruise control etc. switches. there are 4 screw to take that off. with all that off, there are 4 screws at the top of the big dash piece and about 5 or so horizontally along the bottom. then there are a few screws to take out the gauge cluster. from there you just have to take it apart and throw on the covers(indiglo faces). then do everything backwards. it probably took me about 30 minutes to do all that, minus the time to do just the gauge part, but i have taken the whole dash apart a couple times before. but it shouldn't be that hard. then just run the wires wherever you can and to where you want the switch.
also, my speedomoter reads 45 at 50 and 41 at 45, i tested it with the little thing the police put on the side of the road to tell you your speed. and my car used to be acurate with those. so i guess as i get fasted it increasingly gets off a little. that's cause i moved the needle around when i put them on. so be careful putting the gauges on. that's how you do it on a 93 gxe auto anyway, not sure if you will have to remove more pieces on a manual or not.

oh, and yes you and yes you can change the lights, not sure how though, but it can't be that hard just find the right bulb. you can't really see any color anyway except for te odometer reading.
