budget y pipes
#2
Well I've talked to Jeff many times, and he told me that they would make the 3rd gen pipes in a week or so. Only that was about a month ago, so I don't know what the status is anymore, as I haven't called them back. When I have the money though, this will probably be the pipe I will buy. The people are really nice and they'd be more than happy to answer your questions. Also, he said that he wouldn't start making our pipes until the 4th gen business kinda died down a little. Apparently a lot of 4th genners have liked the product. Whew, sorry for the long reply.

FYI WarpSpeedPerformance offers 3rd gen y-pipes. Our non-mandrel version which comes with the newest lined flex section is $199 + shipping. We make a slightly different version for the VG and VE engines. Our mandrel bent aluminized pipes are $265, and our 304SS version is $299. They are in stock. All parts made here in USA. Welding is done by certified welder. We don't use butt welds like some of our competition does.

Probably around $15, maybe less. We use the US postal service. Your best bet is to call or e-mail Dallas. 1-866-801-9338 or bmfjeep@direcpc.com Our pipes are bent with a bender that has new dies, its difficult to tell mandrel bent from non-mandrel. Check out out web site WarpSpeedPerformance.com The site is a little crude, but has served us well.We have had excellent reviews and our pipes fit, many are actually test fit on our cars. We don't just make parts for the Maxima, we drive them. My daughter has a 2nd, Me a 3rd, and my sister has a 4th Gen. We will be offering 5th pipes in near future as well, only mandrel bent.

WSP is the way to go
comparable quality at a much lower price
also, about shipping; I was quoted $15 to ship the Y to Atlanta, GA so I doubt it would be more than that (maybe $20 if you're way out there)

flyry110, the difference between the non-mandrel vs. mandrel is flow. You will have around 20-30% better flow with a mandrel bent pipe. Crimp bending actually decreases the inside diameter of the pipe, mandrel bending does not. Most muffler shops have a crimp bender, they are relativly cheap and provide adequate results for the majority of car owners. People who are demanding performance from their cars want a mandrel bent pipe, to optimize flow.
Our non-mandrel bent pipes are actually quite close in flow compared to the mandrel bent versions. We have a new bender with new dies, this helps make the degree of restriction less. During a Nissan meet this summer we displayed our mandrel/non-mandrel version to several of the Maxima owners here at this site. Ask Howie Johnson from Kansas City about looks. We measured that day and found less than a 1/4 " restriction at the narrowest point. Difference? Yes, Major difference? Probably not.
Hope this explains a little.

1/4 time gains with y pipe
i was wondering because i heard that y pipes help the low end of the powerband so a drag race which is using the higher end of the power band wouldn't be helped much by a y pipe, maybe someone could post their 1/4 times with and without a y pipe and if they feel like typing a little more they could tell me with and without a CAI for 1/4 times. thank you in advance PEACE

flyry110 you will have an almost imediate increase in power. The OE y-pipe has a design flaw (I believe). On the OE pipe the rear down pipe actually bends forward and enters the y-pipe against the flow of the exhaust of the front pipe. After market pipes switch the flow of the rear pipe and merge to go with the flow, thus unleashing power. Interestingly the 4th Gen pipe has the same configuration, but also has 2 pre-cats. Some members have the belief that it's the pre-cats that diminish power, I believe it is this same exhaust flow in the forward direction on the rear down pipe.Simple physics. If you haven't added an intake yet, thats the next mod. Really compliments your new y-pipe to the max.

you will be hearing from me shortly, i think i'm going to buy the non mandrel bent pipe, simply for financial reasons. as long as i will see a gain, then i am happy, i'm a bit concerned about backpressure because i'm going a custom dual exhaust. so i think i'll stay with the smaller diameter y pipe. 200 plus shipping isn't bad talk to you in a bit.
