I haven't had any problems at all with it. I've had it like that on my car for a few months now.
I didn't do anything to the timing. Nismo87 keeps trying to get me to do it, but I just don't have the time or the equipment to do it. I think at first Ryan said that his dad told him that the mechanics said they advanced his timing, but later he told me that they didn't so I'm not really sure which is the case.

remote squirters

I had an extra output on my keyless entry that i installed in my car so I didn't have anything to do with it. I have the squirters on my hood pointed outward so that when i spray them, one of them sprays out to the side of my car, but the other still sprays the windshield in case I really need the squirters. I wired it up so that when I push both the buttons on my remote, the squirters will go on and spray whomever is by the car. It's pretty funny to do to people walking by my car in a parking lot. I had to make two relays; one to give the wiper system power when the car is off and another to make a stronger ground output for the squirters. If you really want to konw how the wiring goes for this, it's a little complicated, but I could tell you.
As for the VTC rewire, it really doesn't take that long at all so you shouldn't have any problems.

See my sig pic for ref: It's on the intake cam(sproket on the right) These assemblies advance the cam timing at high rpm for more power. Unfortunately a bad design makes them unreliable. Symtoms are a ticking noises when cold or when you start the car warm. When real bad, they will tick all the time. It sounds like a stick lifter. I replaced mine w/ a new one(in the pic) it's a long-long story.

Actually the VTC's are turned off for high speed torque according to the FSM. I can tell you this if you ground the VTC solienods your gonna lose lowend torque. That is unless you advance your ignition timing. But if your timing is set the same then you will lose torque.

Yes the default postion is advanced. I sent you those fsm pages remember?? So at low rpms it's "on" but at high rpms it's turned "off" thus more power at higher rpms.

I have the VTC problem and it is VERY loud now. I had it fixed once at the dealer but he said the noise would return about 15,000 miles later. I got a 12,000 mile warrenty and the noise came back after 13,000 miles. Anyway, I now have 142,000 miles on my 94 Max. I read where you said to "ground out the VTC solenoids"....How do you do this? I want this thing fixed at the lowest possible price. The noise is so embarassing !! Please help.

So Craig, if I do this mod, will it change performance at all? Better? Worse? Or does it just get rid of that freaking annoying ticking sound??? Thanks, Steve

i didn't really notice much of a difference peformance-wise, but it did stop the ticking; Ryan (killermove) said he could tell a noticable gain
this mod would work well if you did it and advanced your timing also

Hey Craig,

I just want to say THANK YOU VERY MUCH !!!!! To everyone else who has this VTC problem, go to Craig's page and follow his instructions. The parts cost less than $5.00, and takes less than 10 mins to fix it !!! I have had this problem for almost 4 years and now my Max sounds BRAND NEW !!!! Man I was so happy after I fixed it, that I rode to the store with the radio OFF just so I can hear the BEAUTIFUL sound of the engine !!!! Craig is giving this info on his website for FREE, but like I told Craig in an email, I am going to send him some money when I get a job !!!

Craig, once again, THANK YOU VERY MUCH !!!!
