Shift Kit/Valve Body Job

I have done tons of research on how this works. I just need a little more information. I have heard of Level 10, Don's, and Trans-Go. Can someone please tell me which ones are worth doing? And what kind of decrease in 1/4 time I can expect? I have heard many people say that I can expect .6 knocked off of my time. Come on. I just can't possibly understand how shifting quicker through TWO gears can help me that much. When I race I go through 1st, 2nd, and then barely into 3rd. Can someone please give me some accurate numbers on what I can expect in performance? Also, I would like to know what you think about different Shift Kits and the recent prices. Thanks.

I've never driven a car with the VB/shift kit done to it, however I have ridden in some. The VB mod itself would probably drop a tenth on a NA max with bolt ons. If you had a power adder like nitrous or supercharger then your times would drop 2-6 tenths then. If you really want a good mod for your auto get a torque convertor from protorque. Its $395 + shipping and it increases your lowend torque, plus giving you a bad *** launch.

Ok, thanks Nismo for replying. That's what I thought is about a tenth is all I will get. But, a TC, on the other hand, would be very nice. I have the cash, but I don't want to do anything that serious to my car. I am afraid it might hurt the life of the tranny. So, I am just sticking with the "more flow" mods. (intake/exhaust) Thanks.

Do the VB and TC in conjunction with eachother. A VE auto with just these should easily run low 15's. Protorque told me that their TC would take .4-.5 off my 1/4 time. VE autos really need high stall TC's to get off the line to get good times. Also, the VB mod actually is good for the tranny and helps it to last longer. The TC doesnt effect high end.

Well, I finally have the Maximum Tuning valve body installed in my car. I have had the chance to run my car at two different strips with two seperate base times. My conclusion is that the VB mod shaves off about one good tenth. That's it. I am a NA VE Auto running 15.20 now. Since n20 might be in my future, I am happy I already have the VB.

What would be interesting to know about his sig pic is the reaction time from both parties. Did the driver of the VQ fall asleep at the light, was he not experience with a standard, etc. I've been driving a VE auto for many years and thru different stages of mods, I know what it's like off the line.

Definitley a nice sig pic
I've got the Trans-go shift kit, tranny cooler and syn ATF. It's definitly good for at least a tenth.
