questions about UDP...

questions about UDP...

i recently installed the UDP, my car feels smoother and lil bit faster at the start.. but im not quite sure , it feels like im getting little or no gains from it..

i have a constant that i race agaisnt to test the mods i do..
my friends 5spd stealth, before i was able to stick with him (behind him) before 60 mph, above that, he would be like 2 car lenghts ahead..(before the UDP)

after the udp, he is now like 3 car lenghts ahead..

where are the gains from this udp i installed?
do i have to reset my ecu to let it get used to it or what
because he`s killing me hard core not like before when i was able to stick to his rear bumper below 60 mph.

I noticed most of the gains about a week later. Sometimes it feels fast and other times it doesn't. I never race anyone so I don't know if it helped that much, but I'm pretty sure I would beat a stock VG auto no problem. My goal is to run with a VE auto.

As constant as your race with your friend may be, there are still many factors that can contribute to your loss. If you understand how the pully works its hard to assume that it is slowing you down, its lighter and providing less power to your accesories, you will notice a quicker reving engine and gains are not just limited to top or bottom end.......

What kind of gains are people showing on the dyno from this mod? I wouldn't expect to FEEL a difference. I mean, honestly they only increase the power to the wheels by ~3 - 4hp right? The butt dyno doens't usually register something that small...

Personally, I'm not into underdrives... but that's another discussion :-)

i dunno i was hoping that the UDP would make or help my engine rev faster, but it doesnt simply because the tranny is an auto, so this udp im sure helps it a lil but in , every day driving i dont feel much from it, i even have the ac belt off of it, simply because my compresser is broken, and my engine still lags on reving.. =(

ohhhhhhh auto, that's probably alot of your problem also. AC compressor? just take the belt off and then try it. see if it helps. I can't wait to get my VE UDP, people tell me it's better than a full exhaust.

I think I know what your problem is. You timing is TOO far advanced. 25 is too high. I just can't keep pushing it farther. 15 IS the stock setting. Mine is set for 19-20. I deff noticed an increase in pep throughout the rev band. However...25 is too high...i'd say you are canceling out any gains you made with your udp. If you are sure you know how to read the timing marks then check it....and set it for 19-20. Make sure you are using high octance gas.

When did you advance your timing to 25 in relation to when you got the udp?

i advanced it after i tested the pully, it was just a one night thing when i advaced it to 25, drove it for about 10 mins then decided to pull the timing back to 20 where it was (stock according to my car) some one before i owned the car could of advanced it to 20, im just gonna leave the timing to 20

i had my AC belt off simply cause it fell off, and when i put another one on i noticed NO difference. unless the AC was turned on of course. otherwise it pretty much just spins freely.
