Does anyone have any idea....
Does anyone have any idea....
why my car best performs on a cooler day than a warmer day? like it really moves.. like a normal max would.. but in warm weather... the acceleration on it.. isn't so great...
any idea's? or is this normal?

this is common with EVERY car.. it's because cold air is more dense, so for every turn of the engine, you're sucking in more oxygen that gets burned inside the combustion chambers to make more power than it would on a cold day.

This a problem us VE owners have, called heat soak. The car won't get up and go nearly as fast on days that are over 95 degrees or so. The last time I had the problem was when it was over 100 degrees in Vegas. I have heard that a tranny cooler in the summer months will help a lot. Also, I personally, have cleaned my coolant temperature sensor and it helped the problem. It's getting colder now, so I don't have to worry too much about this problem.

Also... one time i took my car in the morning.. without letting it warm up just to see how it would act... my brother floored it, and the car peeled out... so much power... but doesn't do that as the car warms up either... what is up with that?

When I installed my CAI, it helped quite a bit in the heat soak department, but it's still a BEAST for the first 1-2-3 minutes after starting it up..
I'm going to try and figure out which sensor is causing this change after startup, so I can either fix or disable it.. just need access to a full system scan tool like CONSULT or something while the engine is cold and hot.

i know exactly how you feel,im in ny to and i had the same thing, the car was a v8
for the first 10 minutes before the engine temp gets normally warm .I to figured the cai would keep me at that level, but it didnt,so i also got a udp,and tranny cooler, cleaned the TB,temp sensor ,you name i tried it ,they all helped, but i never got to that great power you get in the cold engine stage ...
MATT did you get your pulley yet,and you have got to do something about that handwriting of yours,it hurts trying to read it
oh and tell me if you got the gray monster rca cables i cant remember if i put them in or not,im pretty sure i did though ,sorry if it looks bad but it will still do the job, remember its gonna be a tight fit and you'll understand why those scrapes are there trying to get it out

Does anyone know the equations for air density?
Out of curiosity I was wondering if any of you knew the equations for air density in relation to temperature? I have a temp guage under my hood that I can read while driving and on a HOT day while idling the air being sucked into the intake can be 130 to 140 degrees, maybe more if the car is in stop and go for a long time. If you get on the Freeway then things can cool down to 10 or 15 degrees above ambient. My point is exactly how much more air is there in a Cubic Liter at 70 degreesF then 100degreesF? I think I'll pay a visit to my Chemistry department tommorow and see if there is an equation for this. (There has to be.) It would be interesting to see if all of the gains from a CAI a actually from sucking in cooler air or if it's in combination with having a smoother air flow.
