I plan on going with 18x8 inch rims for my max along with ST 1.5 inc lowering springs,so what would be the most ideal shock and strut set up and will i have to do something about the camber as well, and if i do is there a camber kit available for the 3rd gen max.
throw away your 18's and put a normal set of 15 or 16's with high performance tires. UNSPRUNG WEIGHT IS BAD!!!!! that's where you lose sooooooo much horse power. I'd go for the lightest rims possible and they'll still look good.
Stick with the 18's. If you plan on going to the track just throw some slicks on the front and stock rims on the back. I love my 18's and would never spend money on ant other rim smaller than a 17. 18's will give you the best performance handling of any other setup, because of the smaller sidewall. They dont ride as bad as everyone thinks either. I'd combine them with some tokico's and your max will handle awsome. This is all by experience, not oppinion.

you don't have time to change rims at stoplights. i have 215 50 R15 tires on my max and they are WIDE and low. it lowered the ride height a full inch. you can still have low profile tires without sacraficing the low profile rims. Given with an 18 inch rim, it's easier to find a 30 series tire, but you can still fine that tire on a 16 inch rim. Dunlop makes some crazy tires in low profiles for the 16 inch rims. I know this from experience also. On my SCCA RACE CAR i run 13 inch rims. But they're WIDE. Granted this would look strange on a maxima, but it's the patch of tire touching the road you need to worry about. Poeple think that if you put an 18 inch tire on your car, you're gonna have crazy contact. Not true. also, with 18 inch rims, you could slam your car, but only get it a bit under stock height. My CRX SCCA car drags the mudflaps when we lower the coil overs 3/4 of the way down. It's really your call man, if your car is mostly for show, then hey, i'm sure those rims will look great, but keep in mind that with the advantages of large rims, there are also disadvantages.
go with the 18's if you are going for show, the bigger the wheel the less of a wheel gap you will have not just at the top of the wheel but either side of the wheel, no lower kist can get rid of that gap. but if you are going for profoemace then go with the lights wheel posible. i have got 17's but should have gone for the 18's. its just that the tires i wanted were to much money. so i went with the 17 inch rims with 45 series tire. they look nice. thats just my 2 cents

There is no difference in the wheel well gap between the 18's and the stock rims. The whole idea of adding bigger rims is to maintain the same diameter of tire with just a bigger rim. As the rin gets bigger, the profile gets smaller thus keeping the overall diameter the same as stock. And for anyone out there that thinks that the lowering springs for the max are gonna make a huge difference in appearance they are wrong. Even after lowering springs the gap in the wheel wells is still too big. You cant throw on a pair of springs and expect the Max to settle at the wheel wells. The stock height needs to be lowered at least 4" for this.
